The Mill on the Floss, George Eliot (1887 edition)

That book triggered a big revelation for me: I used to think that people's strong reactions towards others are motivated by either rational/intellectual judgements or emotional ones. Tom's consistent attitude towards Phillip is motivated by neither, as he gets plenty of insight into both Phillip's intellectual abilities and his kindness and benefits from them directly. It shone a light on how driven by perception some people are - no matter what he does, in Tom's eyes Phillip will always be a "cripple", inherently inferior and repulsive - nothing can change that.

Of course, there are other factors to take into consideration here, but as obvious as this might be for many NTs it was a huge blind spot for me that helped me understand attitudes that seemed utterly stupid and absurd to me.

I just finished The Body by Bill Bryson. It wasn't detailed enough for me but it would be too long, if it was.

I'm finally reading The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat by Oliver Sacks. I love it so far.

Frozen Hell, by John W. Campbell.

Only recently discovered, previously unpublished extended version of Campbell's Who Goes There?, the basis for the films, The Thing.
So far, the first chapter dragged, with little happening save for seemingly endless descriptions of antarctic exploration equipment, till maybe the last two pages. Hopefully, it'll get better.

I wish someone could help me to interpret this.
Any scientists willing to take a look?

That first image seems to be some resolutions of geometry exercises, mostly dealing with circles and ellipses. Every one a of them "Problem #" written near them (mostly on the top-left). I can't read most of the other words though.

The second image looks like a set of antique (and very fancy) compasses/compass parts.

I’m reading A confederacy of dunces and laughing at the story loudly The characters in the story are very well thought out.

Stronghold & Sanctuaries: The Borderland of England & Wales by Ellis Peter & Roy Morgan. Pretty much a tourist sites guide to my little corner of the world, but with the focus on medieval power politics of the marcher lords and welsh princes: so short text, lots of photographs, and interesting tidbits of information scattered throughout.
