Im trying to read again, but the choice of fiction is hard to choose from a pile of authors i read and picking through what is applicable amd i havent read yet.

The Unwomanly Face of War by Svetlana Alexievich

It's a nonfiction book about the women of the Red Army (and red partisans) in the Second World War, who made up 3% of military personnel, and participated in all kinds of roles. It's a bunch of transcribed interviews that give us various snippets from real women who fought in the war. There's no grand narrative about the conflict, simply the small tales of ordinary women in extraordinary circumstances. It's also one of the most shocking books on war I've ever read and some passages are pretty emotionally difficult to read.

I got this last year right before the society closed, but have only gotten around to reading it this week.

I'm trying to borrow The Pattern Seekers: How Autism Drives Human Invention by Simon Baron-Cohen from the library. I saw it on their online catalogue and thought it seemed interesting.
