If yes, what kind of genre do you read?

I like to read a little bit of everything. My favorite genres are Victorian literature (Brontës, Dickens, etc.), Romantic literature, fantasy (Lord of the Rings), modernist works - especially anything by Virginia Woolf. I love reading Shakespeare, too, especially his romances.

18th - 19th century British lit, Victorian lit, German Romanticism, literary theory and criticism, literary biographies and letters, essays, poetry (particularly Elizabethan / Renaissance, Romantics, Victorians and Georgians), 20th century Canadian literature and poetry, metaphysics, ethics, and autism research.

Sadly I haven't been able to read for quite some time because of stress but I'm a book collector and used to read about 60 novels per year. I only do real books, not online.

I used to read a lot more than I do now. When I read a book that's all I want to do for a couple of days until I've finished it - I can't do the dip in and out reading thing over weeks. But that's incompatible with having a child around that you're responsible for. So I've been reading short stories mostly lately.

Favourite authors include: George Saunders, David Mitchell, Thomas Hardy, Walter Moers, Jorge Luis Borges, Mark z. Danielewski, Magnus Mills, Max Porter.

I read books from most genres, except graphic novels which I can't follow at all. I just tend to latch on to authors rather than go by genre.

I am not well-read (fiction and classic literature) and don't have the patience, concentration or inclination to read books, I'm a heathen.

I used to read, before the internet came along. Favorite authors: Mark Twain, George Orwell, W Somerset Maugham, Joseph Conrad.

Ya, but you can read minds and music. That's even cooler.

I've met people who've read an awful lot of books yet don't appear to be much improved by it.

For me, fiction has been an escape hatch, a pressure-release valve and occasionally a panic room.

I like to read sometimes. Mostly long books, not short ones. Short ones are boring.
I like murder mystery and fantasy.

I read a lot. Mostly novels and mostly in "genre" fiction (e.g., sci-fi, fantasy, horror) or non-fiction.

I find non-genre fiction very boring and really don't understand why it's held up as "better" than genre fiction. Most of it is just needless interpersonal drama or overly philosophical BS. Sorry, but I don't want to read about a collection of strawmen fighting over a stupid issue the author thinks they have the answer to. I want to have fun.

I also really like comic books, but I'm not really a fan of superhero comics. Big big fan of Vertigo series like Preacher, Swamp Thing, and Sandman.

I don’t mind reading when I find a good book. I’ve read books before. I can’t say that I’ve read a book lately. Instead, I waste my time on my cell phone browsing around. The most recent book that I’ve started is a book by Al Jourgenson of Ministry. I keep telling myself to pick that one up again and get through it.

I love reading. While I tend to read a lot of horror fiction, I also enjoy general fiction, especially by authors such as Charles Bukowski, William Burroughs, and John Steinbeck.
