When you feel down, what songs do you like to listen to?

For me, at the moment, it's "Wind of Change" by The Scorpions. :D

Generally, if I am feeling down, I listen to happy, upbeat music, because I don't want to feel MORE down. I don't understand people who get dumped or feel depressed and then listen to sad songs on top of it. Screw that.

I don't think i do listen to music when i'm feeling down. I have to be 'in the mood' to put music on - maybe that's where i'm going wrong!

I listen to an album set called 69 love songs 'cause it cheers me up and I also listen to Swamp Thing by The Chameleons.

I listen to the original Epcot soundtrack. "Energy, You MAke the World Go Round," "Universe of Energy," and "Epcot Entrance Medley" are some favorites.

Also, Jamiroquai's "Alright."

Many others. It depends on the manner of bad I am feeling.

"Die Narren des Koenigs"
and
"Wann I amal stirb"
by Andre Heller

p.s.: Lara Fabian and Serge Lama's "Je suis malade" will do just fine sometimes as well:

You could've told me what was in your heart, but baby, you lied,
And I thought that it would kill me - but I'm alive.

I've always liked that song, even before I found out who it's about. :)

"The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World. You can't feel bad after listening to it, especially after the guitar solo.

I usually listen to songs that kinda match why I'm feeling down. But when I want to cheer up I listen to Raining Sunshine by Miranda Cosgrove. I didn't want to listen to it much when it 1st came out because I had been in bad mood for a while but after I listened to it a while I got in a better mood

It's hard to explain... it just feels like the music speaks to you or you feel the music, relating to it more. Especially when it comes to more specifically depression. It's sort of like... how sometimes, crying feels better than not crying. Typically it also has a relaxing effect, as well. If it doesn't, (such as heavy metal) then it still has some venting effect.

I could list a bunch of songs I might listen to if I feel down. For music more on the darker side of things, Porcupine Tree and Radiohead, definitely. Especially the albums Signify and Kid A, respectively. Steve Vai's song For the Love of God, Joe Satriani's song Echo. Then Pink Floyd's song Comfortably Numb and Metallica's song Fade to Black (does anybody else realize they're actually rather similar?), Nirvana's Something in the Way, etc... I could go on for a while

Lighter things? Lately I've found the majority of the album Black Holes and Revelations by Muse to actually have a surprisingly positive effect on me. I'll feel like complete self-hating crap during the last class of the day for examples, but listening to it on the way back home just changes everything. Maybe it's the lyrics... especially Knights of Cydonia basically saying, "Get up and fight". There's also some albums by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and I find a lot of Heavy Metal (Megadeth! for example) to be quite cathartic.
