Anybody like the weird stuff? :)

This is a very unusual project by my favorite drummer Zach Hill. It reminds me of stimming:

It was ok. Better then nearly everything on the radio.

It is nowhere near as great as 4'33" by John Cage though.

The only avantgarde type stuff I listen to is Arcturus, Peccatum, and Winds. I think Borknagar could sorta be considered avantgarde.....

well, the only ones I really like anyways. American music has a glaring tendency to suck in general.

Ooh, I might enjoy this thread.

I like a lot of Avant-guarde music.

Here is some, broaden your horizons and enjoy.

Firstly, some Stockhausen:

Now some Death Cube K:

exactly, since ulver basically gave birth to the band arcturus.

Also of note is that Arcturus is getting back together, so I am happy.

Whoa, Stockhausen is pretty cool. I love noises. Arcturus is growing on me as well.

Gotta check out the rest now.

Here's one of my favorite experimental bands Hella, also featuring Zach Hill:

I created an experimental, genre bending splice/mash-up/blend entitled Avant-garde. 3,954 downloads since February 7, 2010. I don't know if anyone does this, I use splice (others use mash-up, or blend) to describe a cross between mixing and remixing. Basically the goal of splicing is to take existing music and transform it into new music in whole or part, so that, in essence, the result is the total sum of its parts.

That's a broad, broad topic. So much to talk about.

I enjoy livecoding. It is a musical performance in which a programmer codes a program which algorithmically generates the music, in real time. The coding is as much part of the performance as is the music itself.

here is a good example, by Aaron Sorenson. He developed an extremely cool scheme-based livecoding environment for OS X called Impromptu.
