which alternative bands do you think get WAY too much kudos?

I always thought Trapt was a little overrated. System of a Down is pretty bad. Five Finger Death Punch is nothing special. Is Mars Volta alternative? There are a lot of bands that get huge and I never could figure out why.

Nirvana. They were a decent enough band, but the Kurt Cobain worship is sickening.

That implies that Radiohead is a rich man's Coldplay. Which also makes me say grr.
It's like comparing crabapples (Coldplay) with strawberry cider (blessed Radiohead).

And Coldplay and Radiohead are not as good as most people give them credit for, by far.

I just don't get it, maybe I'm just dumb and lack the mental prowess to understand the deep artistic merit. I gotta say, I pretty much don't like Maynard Keenan's music at all.
