Listen to Deftones' first two albums (
Adrenaline and
Around the Fur) some time, and you'll see what I mean. It isn't quite straight "mopiness", but it's definitely angsty, and that works for this thread.
I tried to keep it focused on 90s music as I felt that that was *the* decade of angst/mope rock, though I guess I'll allow some 80s and 2000s stuff as well.
Speaking of which, this is quite possibly one of the most depressing songs I've ever heard:

It's not from the 90s, and "rock" is stretching it as it's really more like synthpop with some industrial elements, but it fits the tone. Great song nonetheless, has a very existential theme to it.
