So, here's the game, you pick one song which you think is deservedly in the Top 50 Rock of All Time, but then you have to pick two songs which are still good but not quite top fifty. I'll start it off.

"Two Out of Three Ain't Bad," by Meat Loaf. A great ballard easily in the Top 50.

================

"Straight On," great song by Heart but not quite top fifty.

"Dreams," a classic Fleetwood Mac song from their Rumors album but just not top fifty.

Okay, now your turn. :D

"Back in Black" by AC/DC. Loud, raucous, and deliciously rebellious. A rock classic, and easily in the Top 50.

==================

"Walk This Way," by Aerosmith. Close.

"Slow Ride," by Foghat. Very close.

Are we picking from a specific list or just our own? If it's the latter, then

The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again

------------

Grand Funk Railroad - We're An American Band
The Tubes - She's a Beauty

PS I like The Who song you picked! :D

“Crazy Train,” by Ozzy Osbourne

————————-

“Stranglehold,” by Ted Nugent.
It doesn’t come back to the lyric, “Some people think they gonna die someday. I got news you never got to go”
And in general, the song doesn’t really develop its potential.

“Freebird,” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
If you can truly say you don’t mind coming into the song late and that you love, in fact live for, the fast extended guitar part which makes for the bulk of the song . . . then by all means, put it on your Top 50 list.

FWIW, the "Top 50 Rock Songs" has to have like a thousand songs in it by now :twisted:

Also: I cannot imagine "Freebird" being out of it, although I am lukewarm to that tune, but the list is personal right.

Ok, enough quibblin'. Let's say "Magic Man" by Heart is Top 50, but "All of My Love" by Led Zeppelin and "Fire Lake" by Bob Seger don't make the cut...

I've got an idea, AardvarkGoodSwimmer! I'd like to see you try making a list of the 50 greatest rock songs of all time!

That would be---challenging.

Hmmm

I’m no where near ready to make my list!

This is just a first pass at it. By the way, I’d like to define rock rather broadly when it comes down to it.

“Heretic,” by Avenged Sevenfold.

On the cusp between rock and heavy metal, this song is brave and bold, and solid and thematic throughout.

From the band’s “Hail to the King” album, 2013.

———————————————

“Children of the Sun,” Billy Thorpe

“Love Bites,” Def Leppard

In addition, I welcome some surprises in numbers 20 through 50 as long as the song is deservedly so, and this one is! :nemo:
