I don't know when I started to read Fanfiction but there have been long periods of time when, to my shame, I'd read more of that than actual fiction. 90% of it is pure crap. And yet it is my guilty pleasure. And I've even written some myself...

Are there any like-minded individuals out there? Does anyone even know what I'm talking about (it's a rather obscure hobby)?

I dunno. I certainly think I could try it. But I don't know if thats really the market for me, I mean, it seems like all anyone wants is stupid slice-of-life forced shipping/romance crap.

That may depend of the fandom... Harry Potter is full of those, I think. And Twilight (blergh). But Asoiaf/GoT does have some serious fics that are true to the nature of the series, and MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). I don't really know, sorry. These past few months I've just been trawling the HP fandom looking for decent fic about Luna (my absolute fav) — not an easy task at all.

But maybe give it a try? Take the fanfic world by storm. I'm hardly ever interested in the slice of life, cotton candy-sweet fics; I want fics with substance, which again is no easy task to find. I've taken to trying to write some of my own; I'm getting there... slowly.

I still write fan fiction from time to time, especially for the Gundam fandom (from the Universal Century up to Turn A).

Both read and write. Lots of things are badly written, no construction or consistence to start with. But I see tons of young people writing, and remember that you actually do that just for fun. Sometimes there're gems. There're decent writers and a few really good pieces.

Sometimes, yes. Quite rare, though. Perhaps it depends on the Fandom (and the website).

P.S. Have you ever completed a MC fic? I can't seem to finish MCs and stick mostly to one-shots or collections of one-shots and/or drabbles. I hope to one day complete a MC...

Yes I have. I like long complicated things, usually, but a one-shot can be fine if you want to tell less things. I wrote a couple of books - not published - it tends to be averagely 20 chapters or 400 hundred pages, but one was in 3 parts. Otherwise a few short stuff - like 200 hundred pages. I left lots of work where I lived before, some was lost on 2 dead hard drives. I have lots of notes and stories here on I don't know, maybe 40 notebooks. But it's ok because I don't want to write the same things and learnt about consistency. And I can write things I miss again, only better. As for fanfics, strictly x files.

Do you plan your writing, right down to knowing its ending, or write in pieces, going with the flow as it were. I am very much the latter.

With the flow. But I take notes, data. What leads me are pieces, I don't always know where they fit or how it'll be a change or twist for the story or the characters, but they're here, visually. I only write visually/footage, it's like watching a movie.

Pen or typing?

It's exactly like that for me; or sometimes a phrase comes to me, a sentence...

The only times I ever wrote stories on paper they were for English at school. *sheepish smile* And you?

I don't have sentences, they come with the visual if the characters talk. But I was told once that the interactions I write are more non verbal. 93% of communication?

Pen, notebook(s), (mess on the) couch, quietness.

I only type to structure things, see inconsistencies, all flaws, and make it clean because I have one of a kind handwriting if I don't pay attention.

Haha, same about the handwriting!

You might be interested in this if you don't already know about it: https://books.google.fr/books?hl=fr&lr= ... pe&f=false

I plan on buying the book soon if an ebook becomes available (because, like with writing, I love to read on my tablet more than anything; sacrilege, I know! ).

^ Thanks. I saw you posted it. I can't read it on my phone. I'll try another way or to be on the computer.

You're welcome. :)
Let me know what you think when you do? I'm curious.
