IMO hip hop is in the best place right now that it's been since it was an underground genre trapped in the Bronx... the hustler posturing has fallen by the wayside, the literary component is the most significant it's been since the beginning of the genre, and the emcees and DJs are coming up with the music themselves. So, what's good?
^^ 90% of the songs i like were made for people who are not one bit like me...and i dont always like all the lyrics in a song i post...i usually dont say anything cuz if you knew me you'd know i dont think like that and sometimes the mc himself doesnt either...just HAD to make that clear...and most people who check this thread will like hip hop anyway...these german songs wont worry anyone...drink summin or make fun of them for some reason...i think the beat is amazing and they all have good verses which most wont understand...its just a song i like

A couple of weeks ago, Majestic Casual uploaded a mix to their Youtube channel called 'Beach Stories', and it featured the below 4 tracks among many others. Hope you guys will like them.
'The Circle', by Ivan Ave
'The Way You Talk About Me', by Sunni
'All Mine', by Maddius
'Summer', by Innanet James

Yeah, same here. I've been a fan of hip hop from way back but don't dress like Eminem or in typical hip hop style.
I also agree about the lyrics. Rap can get pretty gritty sometimes but it's the general message/beat, like you said. Just a way of feeling a bit more positive and grooving to a good melody.
Anyone a fan of Canibus (the rapper)? He released a fantastic track recently called Poet Lauriette Infinity, which is about 1000 bars of straight rapping over the same beat. Check out the official YouTube video to find out more. Also a fan of his earlier songs 100 Bars, Patriot, Nigganometry, etc. Also a fan of Mobb Deep as mentioned earlier, Kris Kross, all the regular big names but I also don't really keep up with it like I did way back when.
^Nice. I also liked when Jay-Z sampled the same song in his 'Young Forever'.
thanks for the link!...the songs dope...ive never heard it before...thanks again

Great, I'll have to check out some of those artists. That was a great track you posted.
I haven't read much into the Canibus vs Dizaster battle except that Canibus apparently pre-wrote 500 pages of lyrics to use in the battle and stumbled trying to remember them. So in a way he wasn't technically freestyling. He may not be the best freestyler out there but he's one of the best rappers out there in terms of wordplay.
I read recently that he joined the army but don't know much about his time there. Back in the day, maybe a decade ago or thereabouts, he wrote that he might want to venture into marine biology.
