Can anyone relate? any people like these bands?
Yes, more or less.
1 & 2: Like half their stuff (which is a lot-I've got several cassette tapes-remember those ?)-and really like some songs a lot. Could go on & on listing numerous examples...
3: Only know "Loveless" album, but there are few tracks I like (esp. "Sometimes" & "Soon").
4: Have a few of their albums, some tracks I really like & some I don't care for. Whole album "A Northern Soul" is great, it all blends together well. "Blue" was alternative hit in 1995-that was okay, though got tired of it. Really got into "Butterfly", "Gravity Grave", and "No Come Down" (from album of that name).
5: Only know of the one song, "Can You Hear Me"-it was on radio in 1990 when I visited New Zealand. Liked that (taped it, so I still know how it goes). Otherwise haven't heard them.
Hold on...
1. I own almost every they've ever done. I even forked over money for that "Join The Dots" B-Sides box set they made a few years back (worth it)
2. They're very good, but they're mostly a singles band ("Panic", "How Soon Is Now", "This Charming Man" and "Girl Afraid" are my favorites). However, I hate Morrissey's solo work (with the exception of "You Are the Quarry")
3. Most people have only heard "Loveless" but that record is a modern classic like I said. Without them, theyre'd be no Silversun Pickups (one of my favorite bands). "Only Shallow" is one of the ten best songs of the '90's
4. "Bittersweet Symphony" is a classic, but most of they're other stuff is slightly above average
5. I had to google them. They don't look like a band i'd obsess over.
