Actually prefer the original. I think it's a keeper. As for synths, I bought some things recently and I have to say I like them a lot more than I thought I would. I got a multi-sampled MS20 and SH101 which have been recorded onto tape that I use in Kontakt. Even a single square wave sounds so fat.

Beautiful metallic resonance to them too.

Spent much of the afternoon working on making some basic, solid sounds. Not quite there, but I'm not unpleased.

Ha, wow thanks, Tech.

That's quite a mighty comparison

I decided to mess around a little to see what would come out. The top two pads are Largo:

Nice, I like the pad sounds. You have very crisp sounds, I think I need to put more top end on mine.

It seems like with a lot of it its more about taking a gentle highpass (make it look like a y =1/2x) per instrument and backing out as much low end content as possible without violating the overall intended feel of the track. You might be able to even do just that rather than adding sounds. Also, gentle saturation and brickwall limiting on the master bus helps a lot.

Back at it today, this isn't really anything, but I'm liking the sounds I'm getting at. I'm using the Jesusonic plug ins with reaper a lot. There's some really nice filter, a nice saturator and an exciter/enhancer that I'm using quite extensively to get a bit more top end sheen on things.

I think the above sounds a little bit like Boards of Canada meets J Dilla which is cool.

This one definitely has a higher center of gravity.

Tech and Moog, great work on your last track each (I've downloaded yours). I could use more ambient tracks like that when I'm trying to fall a sleep but can't cause my computer obviously. I'd rather call your style of music "experimental", I think.

Thanks! :-) I'm influenced by a lot of fringe music, so I suppose it comes out.

I need to get myself out of the rut I've been in. Its been like a long vacation from too much of the technicals crushing my drive, still don't know when I'll be back (hopefully I will be one of these days soon).
