The Final Cut- Pink Floyd

Through the fish-eyed lens of tear stained eyes
I can barely define the shape of this moment in time
And far from flying high in clear blue skies
I'm spiraling down to the hole in the ground where I hide.

If you negotiate the minefield in the drive
And beat the dogs and cheat the cold electronic eyes
And if you make it past the shotgun in the hall,
Dial the combination, open the priesthole
And if I'm in I'll tell you what's behind the wall.

There's a kid who had a big hallucination
Making love to girls in magazines.
He wonders if you're sleeping with your new found faith.
Could anybody love him
Or is it just a crazy dream?

And if I show you my dark side
Will you still hold me tonight?
And if I open my heart to you
And show you my weak side
What would you do?
Would you sell your story to Rolling Stone?
Would you take the children away
And leave me alone?
And smile in reassurance
As you whisper down the phone?
Would you send me packing?
Or would you take me home?

Thought I oughta bare my naked feelings,
Thought I oughta tear the curtain down.
I held the blade in trembling hands
Prepared to make it but just then the phone rang
I never had the nerve to make the final cut.

I don't think any songs describe me as an Aspie.

All night hearing voices telling me

[Chorus]

But I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired
I know right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be...me

I'm talking to myself in public
Dodging glances on the train
And I know, I know they've all been talking bout me
I can hear them whisper
And it makes me think there must be something wrong with me
Out of all the hours thinking
Somehow I've lost my mind

[Chorus]

But I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know right now you can't tell

I've been talking in my sleep
Pretty soon they'll come to get me
Yeah, they're taking me away

Yeah, how I used to be
How I used to be
Well, I'm just a little unwell
How I used to be
How I used to be

first time i heard this song, i knew it completely described me. i still call it my personal theme song. used to quote it to people, too....

Oingo Boingo - No Spill Blood

Animals came from miles around
So tired of walking so close toe the ground
They needed a chance, that's what they said
Life is better walking on two legs
But they were in for a big surprise
'Cause they didn't know the law!

CHORUS
(What is the law)
No spill blood
What is the law
(No spill blood)

(Who makes the rules)
Someone else
Who makes the rules
(Someone else)

The rules are written in the stone
Break the rules and you get no bones
All you get is ridicule, laughter
And a trip to the house of pain!

CHORUS (in reverse order)

We walk on two legs not on four
To walk on four legs breaks the law
What happens when we break the law?
What happens when the rules aren't fair?
We all know here we go from there
To the house of pain!
To the house of pain!

(What is the law)
What is the law

(Who makes the rules)
Who makes the rules

We walk on two legs not on four
To the house of pain
To the house of pain
To the house of pain
To the house of pain
To the house of pain
(No spill blood)

I often feel like an animal stuck as a human with no one having told me how humans act.

The Smiths and Nine Inch Nails often describe the aspie experience best for me. Lately, I've included the Weakerthans.

Aside -- The Weakerthans

Measure me in metered lines
And one decisive stare
The time it takes to get from here to there
My ribs that show through t-shirts
And these shoes I got for free
I'm unconsoled
I'm lonely
I am so much better than I used to be
Terrified of telephones
And shopping malls and knives
Drowning in the pools of other lives
Rely a bit too heavily
On alcohol and irony
Get clobbered on by courtesy
In love with love and lousy poetry
And I'm leaning on this broken fence
Between past and present tense
And I'm losing all those stupid games
That I swore I'd never play
But it almost feels okay
Circumnavigate this body
Of wonder and uncertainty
Armed with every precious failure
And amature cartography
I'm breathing deep before
I spread those maps out on my bedroom floor
And I'm leaning on this broken fence
Between past and present tense
And I'm losing all those stupid games
That I swore I'd never play
But it feels okay
And I'm leaving with goodbye
And I'm losing but I'll try
With the last ways left
To remember sing
My imperfect offering

Sheep Will Sleep (if you become fatigued) - Guilty Gear Isuka

I can see a montage of my life when every time I listen to the song, It's a good song, even though it does not have lyrics I don't need actual words to feel the meaning of the song, as odd as that sounds.

Shake the Disease by Depeche Mode describes stimming very well.

"Do you know how hard it is for me/to shake the disease/that takes over my tongue/in situations like these?"

Another one that describes me is "Pressure Point" by The Zutons.

Can't really pick out a lyric snip, but more the entire song.

"We Run" by Strange Advance. A very 80s band.

Very mysterious, electronic. Abstract, the way I like poetry to be. I'm still interpreting the lyrics.

I forgot. This is another one of my interests.

Spoon - "They Never Got You"

You
When you were coming up
Did you think everyone knew
Something unclear to you
And when you were thrown in a crowd
Could you believe yourself
Did you repeat yourself
Cause no one would hear
And just say it again
Cause they never got you and you never got them

Don’t let it break
Don’t let it start
Don’t let em in
Don’t go too far
And cover your tracks
Cover the path to the heart
Don’t let those footholds start
And don’t let no one in
Cause they never got you and you never got them

You
When you were breaking up
They was just waking up
And back in that place where you come from
Did it pay to play along
That’s where I’m coming from
I’ld rather roll it myself or just let it be
Cause I never got them and they never got me
No I never got them and they never got me

There's a song I first heard back in '84 that resonated with me for some reason. 23 years later, I'm finally figuring out why. BTW, hi. First post.

Wouldn't it be good
Nik Kershaw

I got it bad
You don't know how bad I got it
You got it easy
You don't know when you got it good
It's getting harder just keeping life and soul together
I'm sick of fighting even though I know I should
The cold is biting through each and every nerve and fibre
My broken spirit is frozen to the core
I don't wanna be here no more

Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes
Even if it was for just one day
And wouldn't it be good if we could wish ourselves away
Wouldn't it be good to be on your side
The grass is always greener over there
Wouldn't it be good if we cold live without a care

You must be joking
You don't know a thing about it
You've got no problem I'd stay right there if it were you
I got it harder, you couldn't dream how hard it got it
Stay out of my shoes if you know what's good for you
The heat is stifling, burning me up from the inside
The sweat is coming through each and every pore
Don't wanna be here no more

Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes
Even if it was just for one day
And wouldn't it be good if we could wish ourselves away
Wouldn't it be good to be on your side
The grass is always greener over there
And wouldn't it be good if we could live without a care

I got it bad, you don't know how bad I got it
You got it easy, you don't know when you got it good
It's getting harder just keeping life and soul together
I'm sick of fighting even though I know I should

...
Nowadays that's be considered "emo", but back then I knew it was my themesong. Still is.

The Cure, by Metallica. This may offend some people though:

CURE
(Hetfield, Ulrich)

The man takes another bullet
He keeps them all within
He must seek, no matter how it hurts
So don't fool again

He thinks the answer is cold and in his hand
He takes his medicine
The man take another bullet
He's been fooled again

*Uncross your arms and take
And throw them to the cure, say...
I do believe
Uncross your arms now
Take 'em to it, say...
I do believe

The lies tempt her and she follows
Again she lets him in
She must believe to fill the hollow
She's been fooled again

* Repeat

Betting on the cure
Cause it must get better than this
Betting on the cure
Yeah everyone's got to have the sickness
'Cause everyone seems to need the cure
Precious cure

I do believe

Betting on the cure
Yeah, it must be better than this
Need to feel secure
Yeah, it's gonna better than this
It must be better than this
Betting on the cure

Yeah, everyone's got to have the sickness
'Cause everyone seems to need the cure

I do believe

Devin Townsend - Sit in the mountain

"I know why and where the water flows, (but) I don't remember anything at all, I sit in the mountain, alone"

Sorry Scintillate, I am looking at your recent posts and finding all these cool topics that I suddenly want to post in, so I'm kind of accidentally following you around lol.

Devin Townsend - Bastard

"Grey people stare at the static sky...
Ours is not to question why."
"Bastard... Mother, Father, no...
Time passed quicker than you will ever know.
And they can push me harder, but you know I will never go,
And they will justify it, but you know it will take them slow."

This entire track is a song I feel every time I hear it. Most every section holds a different meaning to me, but each has equal depth.
