I was a goth back in high school. Considering how misunderstood AS made me, it seemed only fitting. I listened to a lot of new wave, industrial, and goth rock. I still listen to those genres of music to this day, but I'd say my taste in music/clothing has definitely broadened over the years. My attitude seems generally the same though.

I'm confused. I honestly don't care what subculture people are.

I do agree with you as far as "aspie" not being classified as a culture. Its not a label. Its what you said.

I don't really consider myself a label even though people call me a gamer. If people saw my entertainment center, they would know why.

I just don't get it, but you're certainly not the first person I've heard of who will listen to both. I am however more of a Doom/Heavy Metal fan, then comes in the black and folk metal....then everything else and well Death Metal is probably my least favorite kind of metal but I still like some of it. I mean the reason I rate Children of Bodom to be my favorite of that genre though technically they are melodic death metal...is because of all the elements of other sorts of metal they throw in. And I don't even dislike rap as a style really, I just hate what a lot of it is about....but I like it if it has a point and isn't just a bunch of degrading stuff about 'b*tches' and bragging about bling and 50+ cars and such...in fact I find it a little sad that the worst of it seems the most popular when its not even a bad style of art.

I don't know if I would call myself a gamer or not, I mean I have gotten into League of Legends...moreso than I ever thought I'd get into a game, but whatever and I like to play console games for fun. But I don't go to gamer conventions and such....though admittedly since getting into League of Legends and thus more exposure to that culture I am kinda curious about those events you dress up like characters from games and or movies or whatever. It would be an excuse to dress crazy on a day aside from Halloween or the renaissance festival which I do plan to hopefully attend this year. But labels are labels if it fits cool, but if you get stuck on trying to live up to that 'label' therin lies the problem because then it just becomes about conformity again.

No I don't think so. I'm goth but its more i mindset and slightly in my clothes and color choices. Although I've been told I have a gothic or dark aura/vibe about me. Soo that counts as well. :skull:

I'm sorry, but this is the gothest sentence I've seen here. :P

Oh I definitely know where your're coming from. As an audiophile I don't think any genres awaken my inner critic more than hiphop & rap. It takes a lot of digging to find subject matter I can resonate with. There are blessedly awesome tracks lampooning that garbage ^ where all the tropes we're discussing intersect. Here's one...
