This one caught my ear this morning for the first time and I've been listening to it on and off all day and probably will for the next few days.
Hey everyone, first time posting in this thread.
So, you know how it feels when someone brings up your special interest, and you get alL BOING BOING BOING bouncy happy excited chatty happy flappy excited? That's what happens when I see or hear Porcupine Tree or anything else from Steven Wilson. That song live is fantastic. I've seen him live in some way, shape, or form like 13 times or something now. I have all of his CDs in physical form because I love to collect tangible musical items... even have one wall of one room in my hosue dedicated to memorabilia related to Porcupine Tree and SW... LOL well I warned you all up front, special interest. <3
Anyway, this is the song I was coming to this thread to share - it's from Steven Wilson's latest solo album, Hand. Cannot. Erase.
My screen name is even from this song:
he writes lots of aspie friendly lyrics in my opinion... but I won't go on any more.

You described how I act whenever someone mentions my special interests precisely!

oh my gosh now you're just messing with my mind. Nobody knows who SW even is around my little country town. But I'm literally wearing my Raven that Refused to Sing concert t-shirt right now and also the hoodie. My cat is currently sleeping under my H.C.E. hoodie on my lap. I love finding another fan!
I always leave his shows with tears in my eyes now because he always closes with that. heartbreaking.

Steven Wilson is my current favorite artist when it comes to conventional music, I go through phases of who I like. In the past I've also focused on Eddie Vedder, Thom Yorke, Michael Stipe, and Roger Waters. Very nice to meet another fan. My favorite solo work of his would probably have to be the album Insurgents. Never seen anyone live though, curse of living in the midwest. I also really like his joint album that he did with Mikael Åkerfeldt under the name Storm Corrosion. The title song is so chilling.
Kura, you'd probably really like this song, on the second high note I can just imagine a phoenix bursting into a fire storm from a pile of ashes:

I drive 4 hours each way to see him when he's in the US touring. Sometimes I get lucky and don't have to go so far. This last time I saw him at three different locations on the east coast. He always hits up the Chicago area (don't know where in the midwest you are)... I told my psych who did my aspie evaluatino and diagnosis, the secret to traveling for me is 1) GPS, 2) always stay at the same hotel chain so I can execute my "traveling routine" faithfully, and 3) crowded places are okay sometimes when I know that nobody is going to even notice me, let alone bug me, especially if it's a SW show. (I've even met him a few times... really can't explain how this is the whole reason for being, for me, because it sounds insane. But I mean YOU try meeting your special interest! It's usually not possible!! ! (even just typing all this is making my flappybrain all flappyhappy.)
I'm going to take advantage of there being at least one other fan her, and post some more (PS I've also seen Opeth live but didn't buy Storm Corrosion - but of course Mikael Akerfeldt is the singer from Opeth, and that's the other guy in SC).
I'm not sure if this needs a trigger warning or not - features school aged kids with guns in some places (SW told my son that he looked like the main boy in this video, when we went back stage after the FOABP tour show... and even apologized for the video and asked my son if he understood the metaphor - I can't say enough how much I love that guy).

PS - I always see Insurgentes and think it's pronounced with a "j" sound in the middle but I guess it's an "h" sound. who knew? lol probably everyone but me.
Anyway one of my favorite solo songs of his is Index (which he was surprised to hear by the look on his face, and he said it's one of his top five favorite songs he's ever written. <3 )

last one for now, so I don't get spammy... not sure that anyone actually listens to this stuff anyway but at least I'm waking up in an awesome way for a change to good music, Lol --
I've always wondered what Synesthesia would "look like" to someone with music note synesthesia:

I wasn't a big fan of this song or album when it originally came out but for the past several years I've listened to it several times a day and have it stuck in my head quite often. The second part was inspired by The Punisher comics and I've been a big fan since I was a kid

Wow you've actually met SW, nice, what's he like talking to in person? I've seen some interviews of him, but those aren't always the best thing to go off of.
@Kura, Didn't you say you've never played the Prime Games? Did you just find this track or have you begun to play them/played them.

He's a kind person but one gets the impression that he feels a bit uncomfortable with other people, and that he works hard at socializing and feels much happier working on his special interests and collecting his music and organizing it and creating than socializing. He feels like "one of us" in a way. He's kind and thoughtful and listens, but does seem to try to extricate himself as quickly as possible once he's been polite and kind and given enough of his time to fulfill social niceties. But then again I see people through my own aspie-eyes and that might color things. But he's not what I would call "outgoing" that's for sure. "Kind" would be my number one descriptor. I wish I wasn't so completely unable to express myself without sounding like a moron when meeting people like him - after last time I don't think I ever want to again. I always put my foot in my mouth and feel bad about it later. But he was genuinely pleased to hear me ask how in the world does he manage to put how I feel into his music (we were talking about Index at the time).
This was the first time I met him, 2006 - I love it even though it's terrible, because he has a SMILE!!
And let me skip to the most recent time, which is also a freaking terrible shot but what can ya do? - this was the most recent tour several months ago:
