I dunno, there's debate about whether or not Skrillex is "real dubstep".
I wouldn't care what genre snobs say. It sounds like dubstep to me.
Whatzermom?
Nah, its dubstep, just that Skrillex is em....err..... the guy who got way overlifted. Not his fault, its not that he isn't dubstep, whats-er-mom is right that anyone who would say that Skrillex 'is' dubstep (ie. he is the whole genre) or Deadmau5 'is' trance is sadly mistaken, but, both are acceptably within their genres but they aren't the 'kings' of their style necessarily nor are they OGT with the genres. It would be like saying that Eiffel 65 I'm Blue is truly great trance house or saying Who Let The Dogs Out by Bloodhound Gang is the greatest of Speed Garage. If you know past commersh - no sin in liking it, just that if commersh is the *only* thing you like, chances are you may not really like the genre.
We used to have to same attitude back in the late 90's toward people who thought Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, Fatboy Slim, and Aphex Twin were all there was to electronic music or that Squarepusher 'was' drum & bass - reasonably so; they were completely wrong. MTV AMP shoved some kind of popularity into em and, because no one else got on there no one was interested in whether or not anything else existed.
