Obnoxious metal music isn't really my preferenece, but I can't say any genre is 'the worst'. The artist sings how they want to sing, and use the technique they feel represents the message they're trying to get across the best- and people listen to what they want to hear..

I despise opera. I just don't like the way they sing.

I think the worst genre of music is metalcore and all its derivatives. It's mostly just whiny teenage scenesters who think using bad words is the height of rebelliousness (hence why they rarely go that far) doing their best to imitate screamo vocals backed up by what sounds like three different melodeath bands dueling to the death while drunk and on speed. And their lyrics, names, and song titles always come up just short of being dark and edgy, almost but not quite enough to be humorous.

Also, I'm offended that it's considered a fusion of metal and hardcore punk. The metal aspects are ridiculously watered down and only a few songs I've had the displeasure of hearing have even the slightest influence from any sort of punk music. It basically sounds like a combination of pop, emo, and ultra-fast hard rock. I'd rather listen to Korn than this garbage.

Older dubstep has almost nothing in common with the modern "brostep" made by Skrillex and those influenced by him. Some of the really old stuff, as well as modern dubstep in a more old-school vein, is actually very good. As for modern dubstep, I agree completely. It's basically modern pop, but the only instruments are fax machines and malfunctioning hard drives.

Art Rock. I hate Art Rock.

Anyone who says "I listen to everything except Country and Opera" is probably a replicant.

That stuff they play on the Apple commercials that's usually breathy female or whiny male vocals over one guitar. I think it's called freak folk? The people sound like they're hurt or masturbating, and this music is usually what hipsters like. I despise hipsters because most of them have this attitude that they're more intelligent or morally superior to everyone else just because they hate anything more than three people have heard of. b***h, please. I like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and All Time Low and I got a 32 on my ACT plus garnered several awards in high school.

I second the comment about the kind of music they play on Apple commercials - "freak folk" or whatever. I hate that s***t. It seems to have such a laid back "vibe" about it, but my idea of the people who listen to that kind of music is that many of them are probably quite selfish, arrogant, and hyper-competitive underneath their "easygoing" facade. I guess maybe it's kind of unfortunate that a certain type of music should have such negative connotations for me - I guess that could be seen as a form of stereotyping or even prejudice, but those are the feelings that come up for me when I hear that kind of music.

Ok, I said Crunkcore was the worst genre, and I'm sticking to that, but it's a rather obscure subgenre fusion. The worse broad genre is definitely Radio Format Adult Contemporary. I don't like Rap or Country, but at least I can see some sort of appeal that people can find in those genres quirks. Adult Contemporary is just pretentious, boring, cliche, meaningless, annoying, watered down s**t that isn't good for listening, dancing, or anything else. It's pretty much universally hated by people who actually like music, and by like music I mean they actually take the time to look for music to listen to beyond the radio and the club.

I don't know if there's really such thing as the "worst genre of music". Everyone likes different things, so there's really no set definition on "good" and "bad", is there? It's all relative.

But personally, I really can't stand dubstep. Hearing it makes me physically ill. TBH, I dislike most popular music these days because it's all electronic...like that autotune stuff is just...ugh.
