it is well to play stuff i compose myself, but unfortunately, it contains no emotional direction or ideological content. it is just a mathematical pattern of notes. it gives my fingers a workout however. http://www.soundclick.com/html5/v3/play ... 98332&q=hi

If you're enjoying yourself while playing the music, I would say it has a emotional direction. It sounds proficient, but maybe you should try a different set of drums for the drum machine. You are certainly skilled with the piano.

Hi fellow musicians.
I am very new to these forums, but already feel at home with like-minded people and hope to begin looking through and checking out as many of the works in this thread that I can.
I've only been playing guitar for 1 and a half years with any passion at all. I used to try a bit on an extremely off and on level (much more off than on, and not learning much). Luckily, I found a teacher who is a jazz and blues virtuoso in the area I live in. He has helped me at least start to develop some ideas for improvising, learn some chords, some tunes, etc. Now, don't get me wrong - there are self taught guys who'd have been playing circles around me even in their first year. My fine motor skills aren't the greatest, and never have been, most likely due to a very early head trauma of sorts that I endured.
I figure, if it's okay, I'd share a little blues improvisation I did with the WP community:
The wording of the title may be a bit insensitive. If so, I apologize. I am in my own head a lot, never really socializing with many people, and I wasn't sure about how to present it with sensitivity to the rest of the autism community, but with an "angle" that would maybe inspire people - including neurotypicals who don't know anyone on the autism spectrum and may not have an understanding of autism or Aspergers. I also wanted to try to alleviate my self doubt and tendency to turn inward, and by making people aware of my lack of a conventional mind, I feel there may be less judgment or the sort of nonconstructive criticism that I often observe towards even much more skilled musicians on YouTube and tend to be inexplicably sensitive towards. I feel like if one is trying to be an individual and express themselves at all, just like with visual art, they are a musician and their music has merit whether they are a virtuoso or strumming a couple of open chords. I've been guilty of being a critic in the past, but ultimately, the brand of criticism of people's music that exists on YouTube was something I wanted to try to mostly avoid, for now, since it bothers me enough when others receive it. I know that many other autistic people play guitar, though, and can excel at any other passion, hobby, career, obviously. I wasn't intending to present myself as more unique than others.
Anyway, sorry for rambling. I hope some folks might like it on the merit of the improvisation itself. It was done as a rough thing, played and uploaded on dangerously little sleep, in any case. I think this and the other two on my channel were done with 2 full 24 hour days with no sleep. Often a recipe for disaster, but I listened back to it and am not entirely hating it - just a little. The acoustic comes from a backing track from YouTube. I mean, I'm certainly no B.B. King yet, and may never be. He's one of my biggest influences, though I tend to listen to others and then just do my own thing, from the mind and heart. Yet, I figure - what the heck? I'm no technical player, but may as well put myself out there. Note that this isn't the best I've done yet, though. Not by any means. I just don't video myself a lot.

some chords i think may be good components to a wider arrangement.....please press "stop" at the end. i used mostly piano, but also a rock organ for iteration.... i wrote this one but not the next one.....just please press stop.

I listened to a couple of your works. Though our own styles are very different, and I'm sure you've been doing it much, much longer, I really enjoy your compositions.
Though it has merit for some people and I'm not criticizing it, I normally really dislike the electronic instrumentation I hear in neurotypical society - pop music or club music, I guess is what I'm referring to.
I normally say "give me a guitar, please" in almost anything I listen to, that is. Or trumpet. I like the trumpet.
You are doing music the right way, though, in my opinion, writing and playing stuff that is groovy and mesmerizing, yet complex.

well yeah i know....what can you do? keyboards have definite frequencies that can not be esacped, and stringed instruments can be bent and flexed to instill emotion. i have never been able to play stringed instruments.
like this is an extreme example of emotion by pink floyd that i could never approximate.....i guess you know the song "great gig in the sky". can you play that on guitar? here is a go on keyboard...

That's amazing. I know the tune, of course. It's a classic, and I agree, cannot be done on with the same emotion and intent with guitar, regardless of who plays it. It's a keyboard tune, and you do it excellently. I agree about the idea of different uses for different instruments. I wasn't implying criticism of the piano or keyboard at all. Most of my favorite jazz and blues and rock and everything else has the piano or organ in there.
I was saying I tend to have a personal preference against the more mainstream forms of electronic music, as a side note, but that even those have their merits.

one of the best guitar solos in history was jimi hendixe's "axis bold as love". it can be crudely approximated with reference to a keybooard backing track but can not be in the limelight as only stringed instrument can convey emotion. http://www.soundclick.com/html5/v3/play ... 24637&q=hi
