Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence: Solitary Shell - Dream Theatre

The song was written ABOUT Aspergers.

A few others that strike me are:
=The Sound of Silence, Simon and Garfunkel
=Who Will Save the Sane, ?
=When You Were Young, The Killers (No idea why, it just does for some reason)
=The Matinee, Franz Ferdinand
=One, Metallica
=I Disappear, Metallica

I've got a whole CD I made with these on them, but I need to go back and find it and get a full list up. Maybe, if I'm allowed, I can post a download link or something.

Goo Goo Dolls - All Eyes On Me

Daylight burns your sleepy eyes and
It's hard to see you dreaming
You hide inside yourself and
I wonder what you're thinking
And everything you're chasing
It seems to leave you empty

And it won't take long to burn
All eyes on me
Through the nothing that you've learned
All eyes on me
And the things you choose to be
All eyes on me

But your eyes look away
It's so hard to be someone
Strung out from today
And all that you knew slips away

You drown in deeper oceans
Inventing new religions
They smile and stab my back and
I lie and have to laugh

And it won't take long to burn
All eyes on me
Through the nothing that you've learned
All eyes on me
And the things you choose to be
All eyes on me

But your eyes look away
It's so hard to be someone
Strung out from today
And all that you knew slips away

And you hide in your room
And the lights burn away
And you move from the truth
It's all so far from you

How weird to see this topic. I was thinking of this the other day while listening to music. For me 'The same Deep Water As You' by The cure strikes a chord. The melody and the lyrics really describe how I sometimes feel.
I also love Dvorak's New World Symphony. He doesn't need words!!

"Left Outside Alone" - Anastasia

And just the one line of "Dentro Ad Ogni Brivido" by Marco Carta, where it says "senza di me" (without me) cos everyone always does stuff without me.

Bad Medicine by Bon Jovi

here is the lyrics:

"I ain't got a fever got a permanent disease
It'll take more than a doctor to prescribe a remedy
I got lots of money but it isn't what I need
Gonna take more than a shot to get this poison out of me
I got all the symptoms count 'em 1,2,3

First you need
That's what you get for falling in love
Then you bleed
You get a little but it's never enough
On your knees
That's what you get for falling in love
And now this boy's addicted cause your kiss is the drug

Your love is like bad madicine
Bad medicine is what I need
Shake it up, just like bad madicine
There ain't no doctor that can
Cure my disease

Bad, bad medicine
Bad, bad medicine"

Rush-- Cut to the chase..
Yes, I realise this song my not definately relate to people with aspergers but, I felt it had some relevance though..

It is the fire that lights itself
But it burns with a restless flame
The arrow on a moving target
The archer must be sure of his aim

It is the engine that drives itself
But it chooses the uphill climb
A bearing on magnetic north
Growing farther away all the time

Can't stop moving
Can't stop moving
Can't stop...

You may be right
It's all a waste of time
I guess that's just a chance I'm prepared to take
A danger I'm prepared to face
Cut to the chase

It is the rocket that ignites itself
And launches its way to the stars
A driver on a busy freeway
Racing the oblivious cars

It's the motor of the western world
Spinning off to every extreme
Pure as a lover's desire
Evil as a murderer's dream

Young enough not to care too much
About the way things used to be
I'm young enough to remember the future
The past has no claim on me

I'm old enough not to care too much
About what you think of me
But I'm young enough to remember the future
And the way things ought to be

Cut
Cut...

Cut to the chase
You may be right
It's all a waste of time
I guess that's just a chance I'm prepared to take
A danger I'm prepared to face
Cut to the chase
What kind of difference can one person make?
Cut to the chase

They Might Be Giants

With the Dark

Metal Detector... sort of a AS was obsessed with a metal detector

The Bells are Ringing

Birdhouse in your soul... music video mostly.

Man, its so loud in here... I never heard that song but it caught my eye.

I Never Go to Work... well applies to me at least

I'm sure there is more since Linnell seems to be an Aspie and he seems to write songs with psychological themes

X2 Cure, Smiths, 4 Non Blondes.

'What's up', 4 Non Blondes
'Crazy' Patsy Cline
'I wanna be sedated' The Ramones
'Unforgiven' Metallica
'Iris' Goo Goo Dolls

Also a special mention goes to Regurgitator, for the 'song formerly known as !'

I don’t go to parties’ baby
Coz people tend to freak me out
Watch their lips you work it out
I can hear the words but I still don’t know what it’s all about

You wont see me down the disco, mama
Coz bright lights really hurt my eyes
I’d rather stay and dance with you
To the funky music playing on you stereo

CHORUS:
Oooh, things don’t get no better than, better than you and me
Oooh, things don’t get no better than, better than you and me

I don’t go to concerts baby,
The music sounds up to loud
Cigarettes and alcohol get up my ass
I always lose you in the crowd

You won’t see me tribal raving baby
Coz I wont ever look that good
I’d rather dance in ugly pants
In the comfort of a lounge room in suburbia

I'm not going to do the lyrics, I guess others will either know some of them, or maybe look them up if you want- but these are a selection of my current "contents of my head" songs. As well as many of the others previously mentioned.

Unsung- Helmet (also my "lucky science song" )
Kerosene- Big Black ( a perennial angry outcast/loser song...)
Pork and Beans- Weezer
Lexington Slowdown- Mark Lanegan (often "When your number isn't up" as well)
If you could read my mind-Gordon Lightfoot.
Losing more than I'll ever have- Primal Scream
Undercovers on-Rival Schools

Recently felt a bit "Add it up"- Violent Femmes, hopefully THAT will wear off!

Wonder by Natalie Merchant

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this before.
