Iron Maiden, Megadeth (the old). I also liked Bruce Dickinson when he was solo (Chemical Wedding). Up the Irons!

I don't really care for subgenre labels. Let's just say really heavy and fast stuff, sometimes with a dark sense of humor.

Brain Drill
Deeds Of Flesh
Nile
Dying Fetus
Guttural Secrete
Disfiguring the Goddess

I'm not as big of Metal fan these days I used to be, but I do still listen to it on occasion. In no real order:
Ministry (mostly Older stuff, though I like their recent works as well)
Blind Guardian
Hammerfall
Carcass
Naplam Death
Godflesh
Lake of Tears
Children of Bodom
GWAR (you don't know the meaning of metal till you see these guys live)
Dimmu Borgir (older)
Danzig
Morbid Angel
Iced Earth
Skrew
Behemoth
God Dethroned
Tiamat
etc etc

Wow, I had almost forgotten about Celldweller until you mentioned it here. I was big fan when their first album came out ages ago, and I liked Klay's old group Circle of Dust. I kind of stopped following them after I got tired of waiting for the 2nd album to come out, are they still putting stuff out?

Yes I do. Mostly thrash, but I also love pretty much any other kind of metal. My two faves are Testament and Black Label Society. Other than that, I love tons of thrash metal, doom metal, black metal and death metal (as long as it's not the same ol' gore...ya know? Cannibal Corpse and a few other bands are okay cause they kinda invented that, but now it's kinda like corpse paint...it's getting old, and a trend. I like Nile, Necrophagist, Behemoth, Vital Remains, Decide though.)

I'll reply with the obvious Metallica, Black Sabbath, and Nirvana, along with my recent discovery of Devin Townsend (excluding his SYL albums)

I'd like to find new bands but I can't stand the current trend of growling or screaming into the mike most bands today think is the thing to do.

Hmmm...let's see... I like many different kinds of music, but I grew up listening to Metal. I like the older stuff, mainly these bands in particular (some old, some not-so-old):

Sepultura
Pantera
Slayer
Megadeth
Iron Maiden
Korn
Tool/Perfect Circle
Mercyful Fate
Anthrax
Motley Crue
Guns n Roses
Metallica
Judas Priest
Accept (when Udo was with them, not the "newer" guy)
Venom
Celtic Frost
Metal Church
Faster Pussycat
Motorhead
Black Sabbath/Ozzie
Rainbow/Ronnie James Dio
AC/DC

These days, I tend to like more mellow stuff to listen to like Grunge/Alternative (Nirvana), Trip-hop (not Hip-hop) and regular old Classic Rock.

And as for Hank III, he's amazing. It's old school style country and he really knows what it's about. More influenced by his late granddad than his father, Hank II, was. He is also good for doing most of the instrumentations on his albums. I highly recommend the album Whiskey, Weed & Women.

Can't edit my post, but I typed the wrong name for Hank III's album. It's not "Whiskey, Weed & Women," it's "Lovesick, Broke & Driftin.'" The former is the title of a song on the album (the latter).

Also I forgot to put Theory Of Hate on my list. And I'm really digging 1349.

Did somebody delete my post, or did I really forget to respond to this one?
No matter, it's mostly the usual suspects...Slayer, Carcass, Napalm Death, Death, Metallica (older), Pantera...I know Helmet isn't quite in this frame but if you like heavy you should at least give "Meantime" a favorable nod.
I'm forgetting a bunch.
