For some odd reason, this song just jumped into my head:

If I were going to be able to attend my own funeral, then this is the song that I would want played.

Adagio in D Minor by John Murphy(AKA The Surface of The Sun). It is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard.

An Ending(Ascent) by Brian Eno

Memories(Of Someone We'll Never Know) by Clint Mansell. Again one of the ,ost beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard. This song brings back sad memories. In the movie Moon, this song plays when the main character comes to terms with the whole fact that his whole life was one big lie, that all of his memories were borrowed from someone else. I'm going to start crying again if I explain the scene in too much detail.

Ad Astra (To the stars):

I have everywhere sought
And nowhere found
So I lift the bleeding bodkin
And thrust the grief deepest in

The gleaming bodies of the infinite skies
Have for my spirit
The cold charm of death's welcoming eyes
In secret to my soul
They are ideals of old

The orchestratal version is a nice close second as well.

I think this here is just about the most perfect funeral song for people who believe in an afterlife.

Unlikely as it seems, I made up my mind on that years ago. Greensleeves [or at Yuletide "What Child is this?"]. It is one of the most perfect tunes for whistling to - my big criterion - and a good feel.

Vera Lynn - We'll Meet Again

Not sure I believe we will meet again, but I would go with this song all the same.

Keep smiling through
just like you always do,
'til the blue skies fly the dark clouds far away.

So will you please say hello to the folks that I know?
Tell them I won't be long.
They'll be happy to know,
that as you saw me go,
I was singing this song!

A performance of the first movement of one of my favourite piano concertos wouldn't be out of the question, either :P :
