Good God, can no one enjoy music anymore without having to be fed pictures to tell them what it means?

People default to YouTube not for the videos but 'cause it's a simple, compendious and reliable way to link a song - I've no idea, for instance, what Rachmaninov's Prelude Op.doodah No.thingummy sounds like, or Prince singing whatever, and I've never even heard of Yob, so can hardly imagine them from just the name.

Their "Butterflies and Hurricanes", also.

How is the younger generation going to understand what on earth I'm talking about, if I don't post youtube songs of my favourite performers?

Depressing, but imagine the world is ending, whether its a nuclear war or meteors are coming down from space. Everything around you is on fire, the sky is full of smoke and it is black.

This is it. You have minutes to live before the world comes to an end, so you sit on top of a hill, get out your iPod or speakers, whatever you use to listen to your music, and just think and reflect on your life.

What song would you be listening to?

Mine would be this. I also relate this to my AS .

You'll see what I mean if you take the time to listen all the way through.

Sometimes the pointlessly contentious assholery at this site astounds me.

Here's an idea: do what I do--ignore the freaking video and just listen to the audio. I know it's, like, rocket science, but it works. And that way you can hear the music others want to share without having to make unfounded assholeish assumptions about them or acting like you're above it all.

Can you see, with your mind’s eye,
Peoples dwelling together?
Sorrow has passed. Peace at last!
Life without tears and pain.

(CHORUS)
Sing out with joy of heart.
You too can have a part.
Live for the day when you’ll say:
‘Life without end—at last!’

Man and beast, living in peace,
Cause no harm to each other.
Food will be there. All will share
In what our God provides.

(Chorus)

In those days old will grow young,
Flesh revived as in childhood.
Troubles are gone, from now on
No need to weep or fear.

(Chorus)

Paradise all will enjoy
As they sing of God’s glory.
Yes, ev’ry day we will say
To God our Maker, “Thanks!”
