A bunch of marketing execs in the music industry sliced and diced R n' R to market to appeal to core demographics. As a (so sue me...;) boomer, I actually like 'shoegaze' and some 'triphop', because I forgot to stop listening to college radio as I got older.

I dunno...a lot of what I hear sounds...almost 'anemic' today, Decembrists, White stripes, etc., I'm sure they can do better. Still, better some new stuff than another 30 years of Led Zepplin (not that they're bad, it's just that I don't want to listen to anybody play the same songs for 30 years...;)
