I do enjoy photography and use photoshop a fair bit but despite repeated efforts to ditch it for gimp (proper ban, like no photoshop for 6 months) gimp really, really sucks by comparison. :(


Yep, Gimp is gimpy...no layer effects.

Blender is HORRENDOUS. But the results can truly be awesome if you take the time and work at it. I've actually become addicted to it. It just takes a lot of getting used to.

Here are some fairly uninteresting things I've done with it. I have an idea for something much larger scale, and I want something to accompany the kind of music I'm working on right now. This will give you an idea of where I'm going with it.

First, a little something I made up just getting familiar with using the program:

I have no abstract art ability whatsoever, everything has to defined with me, that's why I do mostly machines.

you guys should take advantage of Daz3d's free offer. It's 800 bucks worth of free content, most likely because they will be launching the next gen Daz studio pro soon. These are not mine but I hope to make something like this really soon:

Daz is more advanced and geared toward 3D human modeling, a great headstart.

Second 3d head in 3dsmax. I've finished all the way down to the base of the neck but don't have a recent screencap. The .max file is still floating around my hard drive somewhere waiting to be finished.

As far as sculpting programs go i just can't get the hang of them. Not yet at least. I tried making a face in Sculptris once but it went downhill fast so I figured if it wasn't going to be good it might as well be funny. Like a crappy MS painting on /b/. :)

Any one know where I can get reference photos? I've tried goodle images but at most I can find 1 or 2 views of the same object.
