Techno is good too but it has so many subgenres, what are your favorites? I really like stuff like trip-hop too.

Hardcore punk and anything influenced by it.

Because it's aggressive.

The 'techstep' part literally is a subset of dnb (for good examples look at cd's like Prototype Years, Dara: Full Circle, or Renegade Continuum vol 2). A lot of what I'll pitch up in the listening thread though is quite on par with what I'm into. I do like dark, techy, rolling Ecko & breakdancing dnb as well as the jazzy stuff (ie. lots of old Roni Size), and some atmospheric. The logo I posted was the Metalheadz logo which was especially famous for its Platinum Breakz series, which to a lot of people was probably one of the most seminal releases for early dnb. Amazon.com doesn't have audio for the original Platinum Breakz compilation but you can youtube any of the following that were on there: Hidden Agenda - The Flute Tune, J Majik - Your Sound, Digital - Down Under, Dillinja - The Angels Fell, Wax Doctors - The Spectrum, Doc Scott - Far Away, Lemon D - In My Day. Its a very chromed-out and atmospheric kind of thing.

I won't push too much farther on dnb from that perspective as I could probably go one and on all day about who to listen to now, who had some great tunes four or five years ago, etc. etc. but I'd probably stealing salience let alone just annoying the world.

Aside from that I have gotten into dubstep as it has some close correlation, albeit I find myself a bit allergic to the stuff with huge grinding wobbles; the more atmospheric or more stacattoed beats/basslines are what grabs me up. Dubstep has a certain character that tends to do well when its played the right way; kind of like an early 20th century abstract/impressionism feel; tough to really explain that one well. People who I would recommend: Phaeleh, Zomby, Shackleton, Pinch, Skream, Appleblim, Benga, 2562, Kito, Silkie, Dubchild, etc.. The only downside was that this genre seems to have had a much stronger set of tunes between 2008 and 2010; not that good stuff isn't still being made, its just harder to find as people have been pushing to slow the genre down and make it as poppy as they possibly can.

Also I'd agree with you on trip hop - Massive Attack and Tricky as a solo artist have had some great output. I also do like Archive's Londinium as well as their more recent Controlling Crowds release. Another thing, I miss Roya Arab singing for them; she had a really sick tune with Grooverider back on his Mysteries of Funk cd:

Other than that - I used to be, back in early 2000's, big on techno and trance but it seemed like the interest wore off; some darker London acid techno (like Dave The Drummer, etc.) I can still kind of get into, in theory I'm still a John '00' Fleming fan when it comes to trance albeit I still haven't really tuned in to his stuff in quite a while, but it seems like the flat 4/4 of a lot of it limits the 'grip' and expressive range for me wheras the sort of slippiness and hard turns with dnb or dubstep seem to

I suppose right now my favorite would be metal of all kinds. Thrash, death, black, melodic, symphonic, hard... etc. I do listen to pretty much everything, though. Just this morning it was Eminem.

Metal and rock.....this includes various sub-genres which I don't feel like listing at the moment.

My musical taste stretches between melancholic, bizarre, playful and psychedelic. In most cases it's very unusual and most people haven't ever heard it. It always warms my heart when someone likes this stuff.

The genres are ambient (Solar Fields and the rest of Ultimae Records), psychedelic ambient (psybient), psychedelic chillout (psychill) and psydub. You'll find all these in Shpongle or many Shpongle-esque bands and musicians, the whole psychedelic downtempo sub-culture. For those who can't imagine, it's a trippy electronic music sometimes (not always) influenced by ethnic cultures and drugs.

From classics I like the pianist Dax Johnson (neoclassical) and Pachelbel (classical). Then I like electro-swing like Parov Stelar. And I am a big fan of Mike Oldfield's instrumental symphonic rock. There's much, much more to him than his few popular radio songs.

It's almost all instrumental, I find English sung lyrics hard to comprehend and mostly needless. Music is there to express things.

I'd have to say eurobeat. Then followed by eurodance, italodisco, happy hardcore, and various other forms of girly techno and house music. But yeah, eurobeat to the max.

Can't get better than eurobeat. To me it seems like the most emotional music made in the world. At least it appeals to my super dumb simple emotions. Plus it's fun as hell to do anything to, especially driving.

For me it would have to be Punk music the quest for remedies to injustices and the aspirations that is , also challenging things in society that we readily accept and fundamentally holding anyone accountable who believes they are a higher power to the liar they remain. As for sub-genres folk punk, real hardcore punk (black flag, minor threat, etc), but I will listen to anything that seems concious and aware.
