i bought both Shatner's CDs. I got his 1st for very cheap on Amazon used but like new condition; it cost more to ship it. I didn't like it much but it was worth what I spent on it. I per-ordered his 2nd one, Has Been & I think it's pretty good.

DJ Tiesto and Gwen Stefani I guess. The latter isn't that bad, I feel more guilty listening to Tiesto and any happycore sounding techno..yet sometimes I find myself playing "Just Be" or "Adagio" on spotify late at night.

The best answer is this:

I'm at work so I can't listen to the audio from the videos (yes, at work at 1am!)-- however, your post is exactly how I would have described my interest before I realized that there is a genre called "noise." There's a lot of interest in distortion and interference. I also prefer "raw" vocals, but I have realized that the crackliness of these + love of the crackliness caused by poor sound quality => I should listen to noise.

Does William Shatner's singing career fall under this category?

possibly. but as you probably know, "de gustibus non est disputandum" ("there's no accounting for taste").

didnt read carefully- didnt realize he was already mentioned.

his 'rocket man' is from a NEW CD he just released of covers of space themed classic rock hits.

Its basically in the same style as his sixties' stuff.

He doesnt allow singing ability (if he has any) to get in the way of his histrionic speaking over music style. You might say that Shatner was one of the first white rappers! Along with Nancy Sinatra and Rex Harrison!

and julie andrews as well, who had to rap the last musical thing she did in a movie, because her singing voice was taken from her due to a surgeon's ineptitude and some bad luck.
below, bill the shatner "sings" rocket man-

How can you put a label on what is bad and good in music? Who is the one that creates the all powerful definition of bad music? What may sound "bad" to one person, might sound extraordinary to another.

For a tres bizarre music trip, you must check out the Shaggs. It's an all-girl -- actually all-sister -- group from the 60s. Their father was their manager. Their music -- all original compositions -- is not to be believed. I know one guy who actually likes them, but he's a musician, so he's probably getting something out of it that I don't.

Sorry I can't post a link or video. I'm on dialup here and can't use such fancy gadgets.

I'm shocked that this thread has gotten this far and no one has mentioned David Tanny. He fails so hard at trying to write (and sing) comedy music that it's unintentionally hilarious. Behold:

But again aren't we talking about bad music quality and not bad singing?

the portsmith sinfonia was an orchestra with an unusual entrance requirement- one had to be either a non-musician or a musician playing an unfamiliar instrument, to join. brian eno was a one-time member, [mis]playing a clarinet. :lmao:
