I listen to girly techno music most of the time. And I'm a 21 year old straight dude. So yeah...
I liked metal when I was younger, but I think that was mostly because my friends liked metal and rock and whatnot. In middle school/etc, the "punk" type kids were more nice to me than others, so I adapted to fit their group somewhat, I guess. Then as I got more socially isolated for various reasons (some in my control and some out) my musical tastes grew in a vacuum and I ended up in the end mostly liking girly techno music and Japanese music. I still like power metal, and will once in a blue moon throw on 80s metal or Ozzy, but for the most part I don't like metal much. Oh, what else. I also like pop punk I used to make fun of people for liking in middle school and high school, too. Why not. What's someone gonna do about me listening to "Ocean Avenue?" Nothing, that's what.
Also, before real social pressure regarding music, as a little kid, my parents for whatever reason only let us listen to oldies and religious music (I belonged to a Fundie Baptist Church as a kid.) My favorite "oldies" though were mostly R&B and 70s funk type stuff, and not so much rock really. However, as a kid, I absolutely adored 90s eurodance, but I couldn't listen to any of it because of my parents (but hippie songs about free love and drugs were cool and of totally Christian character .) So as I got internet, I found 90s eurodance and stuff, and just downloaded and listened the hell out of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzu-W7fl88U I LOVE songs like that.

But yeah, most of the time, I'd rather listen to something like that over metal. I don't like being reminded how terrible and nasty the world is and like my music to be an escape. Here's the song my username is from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzsdza2iyvE. Here's a metal cover of it from the Japanese artist Sugizo, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkPuSm12GnM, quite good I'd say. I like lots of foreign music in general, I've been on a Russian pop kick for quite a while now.
But yeah, my take on your question, I didn't get to watch your video yet, though. (I hate videos because I'd rather just read stuff, since I'm probably hyperlexic.)
EDIT:
Watched your video. Eh, so we're in agreement I guess about the social side of it. As far as musical talent and tastes, who knows. You're probably more likely to find people with Aspergers in like...classical music or something, over metal. I personally don't find it the most complex artistic music ever myself, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
another edit:
I also listen to Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlton now, too. Just saying. This shows the scope of how much not being around others to influence my musical tastes has affected me. I'll just hear a song in isolation and be like "Wow, I like it."
