Hi all, to be honest, I had already forgotten Dragostea Din Tei's melody until I watched all the videos that you posted. My current guilty pleasure involves songs inspired by my current obsession--China's Chu-Han Contention which took place in the days of the Roman Republic. I think that lyrics play a big role in these songs' cheesiness. Anyway, the major players in the Chu-Han Contention are Liu Bang (who ultimately won), Xiang Yu (who ultimately lost) and Han Xin (Xiang Yu's bodyguard-turned-Liu Bang's general).
Guilty pleasure #1: Questioning Han Xin (Han Xin)

Rough translation: War has broken out in the city; soldiers are panicking; horses are confused. As long as you calculate carefully, you will be able to survive this war. Han Xin invented mahjong--what an alluring game. Let us wear our armor and battle till late. (Lots and lots of mahjong-related terms that I don't understand.) Han Xin not only causes people to lose money but also breaks their hearts.
Guilty pleasure #2: A Great Conqueror's Destiny (Xiang Yu)

Rough translation: He was destined to dedicate his life to the battlefield. He watched coldly how smoke and sparks spread desolation. Armors broke; scattering pieces everywhere. The empire that he was supposed to establish eternally seemed so far away from him. He commissioned a sword dance to be performed to entertain Liu Bang amidst music during the feast at Hongmen. (Long story... The sword dance turned out to be a foiled murder attempt.) Han Xin plotted against him by ordering troops to smuggle themselves across Chencang. So many heroes crisscrossed battlefields just to obtain the world. He lorded over the rest during the Chu-Han Contention; his armor concealed countless wounds. Who would expect his song at Gaixia to be his swan song? When the night was dark, when swords and sabers were blind, when blood dyed the sandy battlefields red, his kinsmen were waiting for him across the Wu River. He, the Great King of Western Chu, lived a life of arrogance.
Guilty pleasure #3: Farewell My Concubine (Xiang Yu)

Rough translation: I stand in the wind, hating myself for my inability to eradicate my heartache. I watch clouds roaming across the sky, I wield my sword, asking the world, "Who is a hero?" Hundreds and thousands different types of beauty exist in this world, but I love only your beauty. When there is sadness, when there is farewell, everyone behaves alike. We have buried so many years of romance so abruptly. In my heart, you are most loyal, we share joys and sorrows, we share life and death. Your gentleness has seeped into my bones, my chivalry reaches the sky. In my heart, you are most important. My tears reach the sky. In my next life I shall be a hero once more, the sun will be setting when we reunite.
Guilty pleasure #4: Tears of the Wu River (Xiang Yu)

Rough translation: I ignore the Chu songs outside the camp hastening my defeat, how can I bear to watch you dancing so beautifully as though your soul were soaring? My strong embrace dares not abandon your ice-cold tears, how can I redeem those promises that I had made to you? Now we are ambushed on all ten sides. How can I bear to watch the bloodstains out your skirt crying for revenge? "Yu, (Xiang Yu's lover) what should I do?" I ask as I lift my sword towards the sky and you slowly lift your wine cup. Once my troops see my sword's tresses, I dictate every move of theirs. Once I have broken through the enemy troops' encirclement I ask the river, "Even if I manage to rise from the ashes, what can I accomplish?" I remember that when battling for fame and glory in the past, noblemen arrived from all eight directions to swear allegiance to me. I have led my kinsmen through so many battles--how many manage to survive? Who will be remorseless? Who will shed tears into the ocean? I untie my horse's bridle, asking it whether it will be willing to accompany me to my next life. I sigh that we heroes who are isolated and lost should grieve together as one today. Within a blink, so many worldly affairs evaporate into emptiness, who dares to chase after old dreams? Since love and hatred have already been burnt into ashes, who will still indulge in love?
Guilty pleasure #5: Song of the Strong Wind (Liu Bang)

Rough translation: The commoner who admired the Emperor's majestic entourage later usurped the palace. Amidst dust and sand, he outwitted the King at Hongmen. He won the world because he embraced virtuous wise men fearlessly. With three laws, he established the Han Empire's boundaries at Gaixia. A strong gust of wind arises; clouds soar. He returns to his hometown after spreading his majesty throughout the land. How can he obtain warriors to guard the frontiers?
