love melodic/symphonic metal, "gothic", some retro-rock like the White stripes or The vines, Brit pop, electrónica, some, some reggaeton, some pop, and just hip-hop from Missy Elliot. Rock in general.

Heh. I'm not really much for mainstream music, but I like most things instrumental. Recently, my favorites have been LotR and PotC soundtracks, Moulin Rouge soundtrack, Larry Norman (he was from the 60s and 70s) along with a few others who I won't mention. ;) Mostly softer, non rap, non metal, NOT country!

I have varied tastes, I'll just list some likes and dislikes.

Likes:
- 80's Music...most of it, including lots of hair bands like Poison and Ded Leppard
- Musical's...Chicago and PotO are currently the only soundtracks I have
- Old School Rap... and very little of the newer rap
- Metal...Evanescense, Nightwish, basically anything with a female lead singer
- Instrumental... Movie music, currently John Williams is the only I know of
- Old/Classic Rock... Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Pink Floyd, etc.
- Techno... Eifel 65, Scissor Sisters, trance and Drum n' Bass are good
- Rap/Rock... Linkin Park, and looking into some Christian Rap/Rock that soumds "interesting"
- Soft Rock... normally off of movie soundtracks, no favs in particular
- Melodic slow depressing songs

Now it's time for dislikes:
- Happy Hardcore Techno... crazy people singing too fast with crazy voices
- Crunk...evil new form of rap
- Grunge...guys with creepy voices screaming about shi*
- Emo... 'nuff said
- Brit Rock... I just don't like it
- Pop... most of it, especially Japanese
- Rap... Anyone can rap, there's nothing special about today's rap, it's just some guy talking about himself
- Country... would Jimmy Buffet be considered Country?

Music I Love
I love rap/dance:
Asian-American rap, dance rap, reggaeton, reggae, real political hip hop (Public Enemy!), Cantonese rap, Latino dance, salsa
traditional teen pop
like Britney circa 1998, Nsync or the Spice Girls;
Country:
Even though I live in the city, I love Cowboy Troy, Tim McGraw, and Gretchen Wilson,
Asian Pop:
I like Coco Lee, Vanessa Mae, and other Asian and Asian American pop singers. I also like Sinergy because although they're rock, which I really don't like that much, their lead singer is Asian American and proud. And they are good.
Neofolk and Neoclassical
In the former category, I like Agalloch, the 'lite' album from Opeth, and a few songs by Current 93 just because they sing about cats. In the latter I'm totally into Renaissance, Loreena McKennitt and Vangelis.
Classical:
I'm totally into the Russians, like Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev, because I'm playing their songs currently. Philip Glass and John Cage are also great. The Star Wars soundtrack rules because Star Wars rules!
Jazz:
Miles Davis and Chick Corea are tha bomb.
Rock:
I'm quite fond of Green Day, particularly's the latter's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". I also totally dig Sonata Arctica.
Oldies:
I like oldies like Yes and Rush, The Supremes, The Temptations, King Crimson, and The Beatles.

Music I Dislike

Spiral Architect, Rhapsody, Stratovarius, Manowar, Cassidy, the song "I'm a Hustler", anything racist like the Tsunami Song, Metallica (St. Anger - uuuuugh!), Megadeth, Children Of Bodom, Soilwork, Nevermore (god damn the lead singer's ugly), X Japan, anything 'Emo', Blind Guardian (they used to be cool but now they are just getting gay), Limp Biscuit, and Iced Earth because this smelly boy in school listens to them.

Looking at Tali's likes and dislikes... I'm pretty close to the opposite. 8O I haven't heard of most of those bands, but looking at the genre's, I don't think I'd like them. Not being rude, just making an observation. I find it amazing to hear about someone who's musical tastes are almost the complete opposite (or very diffrent) from my own.

Anything from soft rock to grindcore (including e*o and C***d). I also like japanese music (tali said he/she dislikes X-Japan, my heart's broken :( GO MALICE MIZER/MOI DIX MOIS!), a small bit of rap (not tha gangsta tripe, songs with meaning or a message like Stan) and in rare, rare cases instrumentals (though only ones I've heard that I like are from the final fantasy series). I dislike most mainstream rap, especially gangsta, also country, techno/garage/dance/trance/other stuff that I can't make out as being any different, drum'n'bass, trip hop, classical, indie, r'n'b and any non-japanese pop other than Dido (Another reason I like Stan, the Dido samples. Eminem has other good songs though).

To put it simply, most things that fall under: Metal (not going into sub-genres  ), Rock and Dance/Trance.

My tastes are pretty eclectic. Right now I have Wumpscut, Lords of the Rhymes, Rammstein, Switchblade Symphony, and Skinny Puppy in my playlist. I listen to quite a bit of goth rock, darkwave (yes, it's a real genre), and some EBM.

I like most types of music really and can't live without it.

Some I like are Indie, Rock, Metal (most types), Dance, Trance, Hardcore, Classical and chillout music. I won't go into the few that I dislike as it will start a full scale rant.

I love classical, especially anything with a prominent cello (but not much with a harpsicord). I can stand to listen to other types of music if I have to, but very rarely will I listen to anything else on my own. Except for U2...the exception to my rule.
