I'm actually not that big on Rammstein overall, even though I like Industrial/Metal. "Du Hast" is a great song, yes, but they have no variety--practically all of their songs sound the same, which is one of the things I dislike about pop music in the first place. I'd probably like them better if they weren't so popular, though...I guess I just feel like there are a lot of way better bands of their type that nobody's heard about.

I rarely listen to anything Top 40..

Most of my music is unusual (Kraftwerk, Mike Oldfield, Yanni, Tanita Tikaram, Annie Haslam...)
I've got a passion for Prog-Rock (progressive rock).

My tastes in music are incredibly varied, and can be quite obscure. I like the Residents, Boris (Stoner Rock from Japan), Can, Faust, Zeni Geva( Avant Garde Experimental Death Metal, from Japan) Boredoms, Fela Kuti, Junior Kimbrough, The Wipers, Bongwater, Pere Ubu, Peter Brotzmann ,Sun Ra, The Ex, MC-5, Jucifer, The Monks, Sunn 0))), ...... This is only a small sample of artists in my collection.

veresae: musically, you are spot-on on rammstein. yet, i guess its because i speak german natively - the whole phenomenon is just great. they are borderlining on so many things, being so much at once, that no one knows how to react to them properly.

as for industrial: there is alot of confusion over the term industrial because several things are labelled industrial - things that dont have much, if anything, in common.
there is the classical (first) industrial movement, of which music was only one facet. bands like genocide organ, brighter death now, deutsch nepal etc... play this kind of music.
then, there is some kind of american industrial, which nine inch nails, skinny puppy and the like are meant with. also, rammstein is often labelled industrial... this kind of industrial seems to be more closely related to a rock/electronica crossover background.
and then, a lot of electro is classified as industrial, as soon as it sounds stomping and machinery-like enough. see :wumpscut:, feindflug, etcetera...

yet, the term industrial didnt derive from a specific sound but a label: industrial records, founded by members of throbbing gristle.

I'm really into ska.
Stuff like The Specials, Big D and The Kids Table, Madness, Operation Ivy, ect.

Bands like Bomb! The Music Industry, Treephort, Arrogant Sons Of b*****s, and The Emotron are amazing aswell.

I'm also I big fan of Trance and industrial.

Music makes me feel like I can't breathe. It takes over my whole brain- I can't hear or think about anything else when music is playing. It drives me crazy.

I do appreciate it a little bit sometimes, though. It's not that I actually hate music. If I am doing absolutely nothing else then music is really nice (although it's boring to do nothing but listen to music so I almost never do it).

When I'm at a bar or something and music is playing then I don't have much of a choice. I sit there holding my ears plugged because it's so loud and listening to the beat and tune and lyrics. I like 80s electronica/pop like Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys, etc. I also like swing music... like... see, I listen to it so infrequently that I can't even remember my favourite singers' names.

Nightwish is the best band there ever was.

I have a very unusual taste in music, but it somewhat similar to what Fogman's appears to be. One thing about me is that I don't like to listen to a bunch of music of the same mood of genre. My tastes are strongest when it comes to experimental rock though. The bands I listen to most often include Tortoise, Can, Joy Division, Merle Haggard, Zeni Geva, Fushitsusha, Nurse With Wound, Jeff Beck, John Coltrane, John Zorn, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Iannix Xenakis, Don Caballero, and Fennesz.

I like the real Punk from the late 70s and early 80s. The type that was recorded by British bands, mainly from London. The stronger the Cockney accents are, the better the music is.

I like most instrumental stuff.

Although not exactly the same, I like some female jazz vocalists such as Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie.

Overall, I wouldn't say my tastes were wierd but I guess I do listen to some non-mainstream stuff.

I'm the same way. I only like to listen to music with headphones, or in the car when I'm driving by myself. That way I have complete control over the sound and volume. I don't like it when I don't have control over it. Laud music in bars and restaurants drives me nuts.

Define "unusual".
