writer's block... how the heck to get rid of it?

I think if you get stuck when writing something in particular then you should stop that piece and start on something new. I tend to have ideas floating around, or often find myself remarking on something that is happening around me. I write it down in note format, totally unrelated ramblings. Idea's often come through.
