I wonder if Trey and stone are on the spectrum. They kinda odd individuals. odd but creative...in a barren wasteland medium that is.

South Park has gotten very dark and rude throughout recent seasons, and contains a lot of adult content like heavy drug use, graphic sex, gory violence, terrorism, paedophilia, and anything else you can think of. I don't think I would let my children watch if I had young children. If I had teenage children I'll probably let them watch it though, even if they're still underage, but it's really not something small children should watch as it's too intense for young minds and it is aimed at teens and adults.

You're right, children should not be seeing that. Dark content is OK, but it must be age appropriate.

Completely agree. I was traumatized by the depth of the experiences and emotional turmoil of the people in my first 2 books.
I struggled to read them just to shock myself.
The education system is insane

I don't know much about South Park other than vague statements of it being offensive in some way (in multiple ways possibly?) so I can't comment on that.
Harry Potter definitely gets dark in the later sections. Avatar: the Last Airbender can also get quite dark. I don't think we should cleanse children's media of dark things, because then children won't have that way to learn about the dark elements present in real life. But we shouldn't make it too dark either. It's a sliding scale and I think different shows fill different slots, even today.

I find it really odd how at the same time Avatar: TLA can be so bright playful and easy, like the best kid show or for hard times but then it gets so deep. But i suppose anime tends to be like that at some point, much like japanese robot music like the UTA and Vocaloid with dark themes tailored around extremely traumatic teenager experiences or self harm that they sometimes relate to.

Wait, what? Which two books?
In any case, introducing these themes gradually as ages go up is the best way forward.

One is Baltagul [the hatchet] by Mihail Sadoveanu, it's a story about a shepherd being killed. Had to have it on some important test like ending 8th grade so i had to know it very well.

The first was an exotic adventure suggested to me by the teacher. <\3 we all had something to read but choices were limited by the books she owned.

Wow, intense. Some people are more sensitive than others to this kind of thing, as well.

Virginia Andrews books are dark although they're mostly aimed for late teens.

those grim"s fairytales were scary to me especially Hansel and Gretel.
I remember reading about those Nursery rhymes having a darker side to them.
Although now its interesting that they ended up as rhymes for children.

Mary Mary quite contrary isn't about A garden it's about torture devices. 8O

Why do people whine about darker concepts being shown anyway? Surely kids need to have asafe way to learn about dark things in the world?

That hasn't taught me anything good except fear and that society is an evil construct you are forced through.
Kids\teens know what's going on from the news, sometimes kids shows, parents excessive threats and their own fearful brains, there's no need for extras.
Oftentimes these stories have a hero looking for her\his own justice, that is not gonna help anyone seek justice safely. Quite counter-educative.

Fair point. I stand by my previous point, but there are people who learn about dark things through unsafe environments, and fiction doesn't help them.

People like me are naturally intuitive and don't get into trouble but nothing can defend you from acts sometimes, especially when it comes to adults decisions. Some things just happen

Oh. I... am sorry to hear such things happened to you. I can understand why for you, dark things in fiction only exacerbate the fear and suffering.
