I just want to brag about finding a copy of Master & Commander for 3$ :D And a beautiful hardcover copy of James Joyce's classic Ulysses for 8$ However, they're both books with really thick impenetrable language & such which I just don't have patience for right now... so I guess I'm reading nothing

I used to read lots of Stephen King. At some point, though, I stopped, and I'm not really sure why.

Currently I'm reading several short stories by H.G. Wells. This has nothing to do with "The War of the Worlds" moving that just came out. The reason I'm reading this is because I recently read "The Battle of Dorking" by George Chesney and now I'm on one of these Pre-WWI War of the Future story kicks. Currently reading "The War in the Air", where the Germans are going to attack New York in a bunch of balloons.

I finished the new Harry Potter book on friday and I'm now reading Maskerade (one of Terry Pratchett's Discworld books, it's basically a parody of "The Phantom of the Opera").

"maserade" is one of his best, i reckon. "ggggrrraaaannnyyyyyyyy!"

anyway, just finished "the last samurai" by helen de witt - highly recommend, especially as i'm sure the mother and son main characters have AS.

also "the falls" by ian rankin - i like a good crime book, and it's light reading.

and also "life skills" by katie fforde - romantic chick-lit for the more discerning.

off to the library tomorrow, as i've only got one left, and i keep picking it up and putting it down again...

We go to the library every Tuesday. Never enough books!

A few weeks ago I mentioned to my mom that nearly every book I request either has to be ordered through inter-library loan, or has to be retrieved out of stacks because no one else has asked for it in years.

She gave me this strange look and said, "You always did have such esoteric interests..."

I have to tell you Mockingbird, that you inadvertantly made me laugh until I had tears.

When my brother was in 7th grade, he did a book report on that particular book. The kicker is that he is a redhead, with a very white complexion and freckles. The book wasn't on a list or anything, he just wanted to read it. His teacher called my parents, after he turned in the book report, laughing so hard she could barely speak.

It is a good book and thank you for making me smile today.

I'm now reading Chuck Palahniuks novel/short story collection Haunted. I'm reminded of how "Guts" is the most horrifying (yet hilarious) short story ever written.
