You mean, play all of the instruments and do the vocals yourself? I saw one guy on the internet who did that, it wasn't very good though.

The Red Chord is seriously underrated.

No, play bass and sing.

Can you do the cookie monster vocals? Or the "bree, bree, bree" thing bands like Job for a Cowboy and Despised Icon do? If you can I guess you could put an ad in the paper looking for guitarists and a drummer. Still, I would imagine that being in a band would be difficult for an aspie. :?

That's why I only want to be in a band with other Aspies. I write a lot of lyrics dealing with being a total outsider, against prejudice and bullying, etc. I can't growl or anything yet, I want to sing so people can hear what I'm singing, because the lyrics are so important in my songs.

Maybe it should be a metalcore band, something along the lines of Chimaira or Lamb of God. Still blistering and heavy, but with legible lyrics.

The problem with this genre is that a lot of people sees it as slowly dying.

I was actually thinking of starting a serious black metal project about the sorrows of living with AS. NTs would love it and have no idea  As the vocals would obviously be too obscure. I can do death vocals as well but I prefer black..
Oh, and theres also the fact that I have no one to start it with..

That was good. The music was awesome, it would have been funnier if the bouncing green dot was a Mickey Mouse face like the one from the Mickey Mouse club.

Is this the Cannibal Corpse one you were talking about? This was the first interpretation parody I ever saw and I still think it's the funniest.

I haven't heard that. Metalcore bands usually outsell death metal bands here, most self proclaimed metalheads I know listen to mainly metalcore. Death metal is only accessible to the few who appreciate it because the lyrics are impossible to understand.

I thought the grenre had ended up as a parody of itself and that more Death Metal bands like Job For A Cowboy were taking over?

Metalcore is very broad. I have heard Job for a Cowboy be lumped into the metalcore category before. You hear a lot of bad things about metalcore probably because there are a lot of crap metalcore bands out there. It might be losing a little bit of steam though.

Nu metal is the genre that I hear has really turned into a parody of itself.

Genres are hard to define. Maybe you should just try to start a new genre...

Maybe. I like bands like Children of Bodom and Lamb of God, Metal with lyrics it's easier to understand.

Have any lyrics written yet? Or are you not taking it all that seriously?

I have written the lyrics for roughly 15 songs. I have started writing and playing riffs for about 4 of them I actually have a song I call "The Humanist". The chorus goes like this:

Ridicule a child and see what you sow
a Humanist, not the kind you know
How to tear out his sanity you know
I see the mighty double-hypocrites,
I hear another kind of "eternal lie"!
You're gonna get a great Humanist,
not the kind you know, a Humanist
who hates everyone to death!

I tend to put in a little literary a historical and literary reference together with the theme of harassment of outsiders and social isolation in my songs. A little H.P. Lovecraft pun worked fine in this case.

And ok, there's a lot of really bad "commercial for commercialitys sake" Metalcore out there that sucks that has has given the genre a really bad reputation and it's seen as more commercial here in Europe but I have heard a lot of the less commercial of it that I like. I recently heard "August runs red" and liked it, despite that it's a christian band.

id call Job for a Cowboy deathcore (although ive only heard the song you posted) even if just for the vocals .......... yea metalcore is really big and i dont think its declining (at least in aust) is seems to be getting the 'mtv crowd' like nu metal (witch was never really a style just a label)

but dm isnt about lyrics its about brutal riffs ......... i might suggest prog it has the enfisis on lyrics and its at least as big

I've been thinking about having music that has it's influences both from Thrash and Death Metal, but maybe also with keyboards, like prog. Keyboards are used as a replacement for delay or reverb in a lot of Metal today, and I have an idea of using it with heavy phaser and flanger sounds -- it's going to sound cool with the lyrics I write.

Thanks. Does anyone know if it's "theoretically right" to harmonize in minor 7th's?
