There so much music chances are you find something you like. Occasionally I really enjoy silence and nothing else. Though after a while i will start to create my own music from the silence.

So how come you don't like music. Does sound bother you maybe?

Frankly, I have met no NT and only one Aspie who would not like music. I don´t get it. Maybe it´s because I am myself very musical, I played flute as a child, I won few singing contests and I listen to whatever kind of music that pleases me - I don´t know. How can you NOT love music? How can you BE without it? I would DIE without music, and I mean it. In a dead earnest. I understand many things about AS, why we Aspies like/hate certain things, because it is understandable. But something like this I will never understand.

i am one of those, who don't listen to music. i imagine that people listen to music to run away from reality, just like drinking alcohol or doing drugs. what would you think about, what would keep your brain busy if you didn't listen to music at all?

the worst kind of music is the kind you are forced to listen, like music in shopping malls.

This, plus sometimes music is just noise/clutter to me.

I'm obviously able to enjoy music, but I have a feeling I don't like most of it. I have an ear to know if something is catchy/pleasing to the ear. Most popular songs are made to be pleasing. But what accounts for 'my taste' is fairly narrow.

ETA: holdsteady, you're probably not aware the image in your avatar was on a Joy Division artwork, then?

God, yes, this so much. Also, most of the replies on this thread are making me think of this:

I don't like loud, raucous music, usually. Some is quite good, but most of the time I don't like it. I don't like to have someone else's music shared with me against my will. I don't like music in the background while I'm trying to do something else. If I'm bored, it can be soothing, but most of the time it's an annoyance unless I really need the distraction.

But I LOVE music when it's my choice, my volume (I can't abide anything too loud - I have sensitive hearing) and I can just pay attention to it.

I know one guy who doesn't like music at all, and cheers whenever a music station is taken off the radio and is replaced with a talk station.

Well the music on the radio does suck.

I would personally think that this would go for all the arts to greater or lesser extent, and not just music. Many people could also not imagine a world without literature, painting, dance.

Of course, most people do not invest a whole lot of time into ANY art.
