Uh, do you know what death metal is?

Being I grew up in the day of Sepultura, Cannible Corpse, and Six Feet Under? I'd think so but then again if your really meaning it in the purist sense I guess I don't really know it from Black Metal and the other stuff that well just like I really don't know my goth rock either.

Well my point was, you were just talking about how I might like it cause I like death metal, but if its the same kinda techno stuff as the first one, then I doubt it. I didn't listen to the thing you linked yet, cause I wanted to clear that up first.
You know, I would have a really hard time explaining the differences, but I can tell in a second whether something is black metal or death metal, or the best of both worlds, black/death metal, like 1349 or Behemoth.
As far as goth stuff, I'm not so sure, the closest thing to goth I listen to is Cradle of Filth and Graveworm. They are kinda like gothic black metal, if that makes any sense.

I think my comparison comes down to this; the genre which that first set exists in is a really wide one in terms of sound. It all has the busted sped-up hip hop percussion but the sounds are a bit of everything - hip hop, raggae, techno, industrial, and even metal. The darker edge of this genre is actually something where I've seen a lot of my friends who were huge, not death metal but hardcore metal, like Slayer, Zao, etc. who were good musicians themselves (the one guy actually is a real good drummer) go over to dj'ing or producing. BTW, the last link I posted - not the darkest stuff out there, there's much darker, but it was a convenient link to grab and around the middle and toward the end it does get pretty well grimed up. Not saying you even have to dl it either, I don't really believe in twisting anyones arm, just saying its there.

Ok, good stuff to know. For some reason as well I had Testiment pegged as black metal, maybe just because they're Swedes, or maybe I had heard the name applied to em - my recollection on all that is a little fuzzy though after about 9 or 10 years. Also I think my main mix-up with goth was that I'm also a big Skinny Puppy fan and I'd heard so many people go off about them being goth-related that I started to think that certain kinds of industrial were an extention of goth - pfff... all I've gotta say is don't run that one past a goth unless you want to be the idiot of the day .

(and on another note - I DO want to listen to one of those Nile tracks but, my roommates have yanked the internet and cable till Tuesday, I'll be out of town till Friday, and my parents internet won't work because they're computer has no sound card; miraculously stupid stuff I know).
