Oh, I forgot. If you're into Brazillian music (or Esperanto), check out MusicExpress. They have like thousands of MP3s for free. Don't understand Portuguese? That's okay. I don't either. Still sounds good to me.

The two menus at the top will lead you to the music. The left one is artists, and the right is genres.

http://elbo.ws/ is good. It's an mp3 blog aggregator.

Er, she said legally.

Actually you'd be surprised how many record labels' websites have free tunes up. Whatever label Dizzee Rascal is signed up to, they have about a hundred songs by their various artists up their for free, entirely legal.

You can get almost any album or song you want by doing a google search. You just need to know how to look for it.

Torrents are trouble.

Do you like downtempo?

Here is the website of The Green Samurai Clan, they have free downloads of their songs.

Re - the hype machine. Its basically a list, by date, of all the songs that have been recently posted on music blogs. These tracks are almost always posted illegally, (unless the blogger has connections with the artist and can get exclusives - not generally the case). They usually justify themselves by saying that the music is meant as a taster - if you like it, you should then go and pay for something.

I personally don't have the patience to trawl the blogs, (prefer to google bands I've read about on Drowned In Sound, on Pitchfork, in various magazines, or DJ's charts) but I envy those who do!

I know this thread isn't about downloading videos, but if you want to download a favourite
video from youtube, change your link by replacing 'youtube' to 'get2pc'
and it will magically download straight to your hard drive (by clicking download).

That actually worked! 8O (I had to try it.) That is so much easier than using using UnPlug.

Back on topic, lots of fan sites may also carry a few songs such as unreleased demos and live shows. :)

Limewire is spyware and virus free.

The developers of the software hate that stuff more than we do.

yes. but the stuff you download can be full of stuff you dont want. besides, it takes up too much power from the computer.

I get most of my music from Nectarine Radio www.scenemusic.eu

It's mostly techo, but there's plenty of good music there in other styles, over 20,000 tunes in total.
