Construction Time Again . I have a CD of extremely rare DM bootleg tracks which are probably on some of the vinyl test pressings and promos you've got Stjarna. I wanna make a compilation of all the DM instrumental tracks; some of which I have on CD singles[Big Muff, Nothing to Fear, The Great Outdoors! Pimpf, Agent Orange]
I really like the ultra-rare tracks:
Violence and
Until you saw the sea.
Very Alan Wilder!
So stjarna, who's your favorite Mode member-past or present? Mine is Alan Wilder of course. Are you also a fan of Alan's Solo
project, called 'Recoil'? I should check on Limewire and see if I can find some of those rare tracks as the CD of them I had is badly damaged
. I became a fan in 1990 at the age of 11 when I heard
Policy of Truth on the radio and at the end of the summer went out and bought
Violator on tape.
Hi! Yes, those were the good old days.
You are right that many remixes on those bootlegs originate from exclusive and officially released promos. But beware of some of the so-called "unreleased" tracks... Many are just fakes. 'Violence' for example is not DM at all I'm afraid. I think unreleased tracks mostly exist on live bootlegs from 1980. Like 'Reason Man' (+ a few more) from the legendary Bridgehouse gig for example.
I do have a few bootleg LP's (live shows between 80-90) but my real obsession has always been
official rarities on vinyl. Below is one example from my collection. It's a test pressing for the US LP release of 'Speak & Spell'. It comes with a studio report dated October 9th 1981.
Fave member past or present? Well, I have to agree with you! Absolutely! I always thought Alan Wilder was the coolest guy on the planet behind his Emulator II. I am indeed a fan of Recoil but it's his work in Depeche I love the most. Insanely talented musician, really.
