Anyone here like Noise Rock

Fugazi are great; but the most notable noise rock band I'm into are Sonic Youth. Their use of feedback, wilful experimentalism, and most importantly the way they use guitars as virtually anything but traditional guitars (alternate tunings, drumsticks, etc.) is an inspiration to me and I've often straight-out ripped them off. But I do experiment with my own tunings and f**k about with my guitars, so it's not all plagiarism.

Basically, Sonic Youth are awesome.

how about UK indie label first Blast that the American noise rock bands were on like big black, sonic youth, Dinosaur Jr, Scratch acid and butthole surfers

In 1991, a local music store in Maine had a 64 Fender Jaguar guitar on sale fairly cheaply due to the fact that the paint had been stripped from the body, saned down to the bare wood, and when refinished with clear laquer. I went to trade anold Marshall amp that I had for the guitar. When I go to the store with my amp, the Jaguar was gone. --You can see it on Lee Ranaldo's website though, as it wasn't in their equipment van when that got stolen in 1999.

The day before I brought the amp in, Sonic Youth had opened a show for Neil Young, but before that, He was in the music store, and bought the guitar that I wanted.

I don't know about the Blast First! releases of those bands, but they were on a bunch of differant labels here in the US.

i like the Scottish noise rock like Urusei Yatsura, Arab Strap, Mogwai etc

What exactly is noise rock? I like metal and some loud-sounding rock -- gothic rock, alternative, hardcore, metalcore, etc... but I never heard of Noise Rock, or most of these bands for that matter. What genre is it compared to?

It's basically an outgrouth of both the punk and metal scenes, Noise Rock is a bit more Avante Garde than either, and can be quite mathy at times. --Sonic Youth's 'Bad Moon Rising' CD is a good choice for your first Noise Rock CD. So is practically everything put out by The Boredoms, which is also a good introduction to the subgenre of Japanoise.

I've been listening to Generic Flipper quite a lot lately and Flipper remind me quite a bit of the YouTube band Complete at times.

Complete are great for causing uncontrollable laughter in some people and absolute disgust in others.
