Here are a couple of scribble sketches.

The proportions are off but the dynamics are nice.

This one worked a bit better.

Gad...nearly 6 weeks between stimulus and response...;)

Here's one that is in the works; shows the process of working that I use.

Here's two of the main characters; based on some books by Naomi Novik, and the dragon Tremaraire. Think Horatio Hornblower with Dragons...;) Actually a good read, but I digress.

The dragon is from China, and it's set in the early 19th Century. The dragon's 'owner' is set, but I need to 'conform' the trousers, or it will get drafty. There's also a woman (isn't there always?...;) and her dragon, which is more of a Western dragon. I have the models for her and the dragon, I just need the right headgear to get it set up right.

The figures are posed in Poser (the program that rendered this), then you need something to set the scene (I'll likely make a 3d model, I put something of mine in every pic), then render a background image in another program called Bryce. That's imported into Poser, lighting directions, intensities, and color are matched (which blends the two into one, or it's obvious it's a background...;)

Finally some cropping for a thumbnail, and posting. I need to track down his wig (have one...somewhere, somewhere...;), and maybe make a Nelsonian-type hat for him. Then it's all saved and posted in whatever gallery, and away we go.

No one can start and make a masterpiece, it's a long road to get there. I am just learning to draw and i'm over thirty.

Wow there's some nice art here. Its a bit intimidating to post. I pencil sketch and play around with gimp. Never really finish anything. This one is what I made my avatar off of.

very interesting light, Mazeut!
you look at an example (in real life? picture?) to capture these shadows/light?

Thanks. Its out of a story, so no picture or anything. I was more or less seeing what gimp could do with shadow. Also, was trying to do a scene with women in it, cause I suck at them. Their subtle. I did the one below with the same woman that's in front of the van and most people who see it think its a guy.

Image

There's also saposed to be a fire in front of the van there but I can get the highlights to come out right.
