The first piece of art is by a friend. She gifted it to me out of the blue. It's of my fursona, Dr. Clark Forrester. He's a Dilophosaur. I'm glad she noticed that the species doesn't have frills as portrayed in Jurassic Park. I'm immensely happy that she did it. It was a great welcoming gift for when I joined Fur Affinity two days ago.

I set down to doodling on my tablet yesterday because I hadn't touched it in a while and made a few simple doodles of my character.

While browsing through photos of East African warriors to find a good ref for this Egyptian warrior's pose, I notice that most of them tend to look rather lean with only a little muscle definition rather than the brawny bodybuilder types we Westerners associate with warriors. I'm not sure if it's because East African tribespeople don't get enough to eat or if they simply don't bother with building up muscle when training for battle. I aimed to depict that East African slimness as accurately as possible when drawing my Egyptian, but I don't know if it came out right.

Some skin tone swatches for coloring humans of various ethnic backgrounds in GIMP. For the highlights, I added white at 30% opacity to the midtone color, whereas the shadows had black at the same opacity.

BTW, your comment on my earlier post came across as sarcastic - I know that (especially in a forum such as this one) that such things can often be misunderstood, but looking at your previous posts I couldn't see anything else in that tone. OK; my artwork may not be your kind of thing, but to make rude comments about the software I use while not even commenting on the art itself seems strange even by Aspie standards! Please clarify what you were trying to say...

i am sorry. i went back to see what you are talking about and i can see i misunderstood your post for some unexplainable reason. i remember thinking at the time that you were warning that the art was not good because you had to use that software. i can not discern now how i gleaned that from your words.

even though i thought that, i also can not understand why i bothered to post that thought.

anyway, i looked just now at your art and it is good.

Portraits of three fantasy races which I might use as concept art for a future story.

^ Like the guitar!

Ancient Egyptian tradition maintained that Egypt was once divided into two kingdoms, Ta Mehu (Lower/Northern Egypt) and Ta Shemu (Upper/Southern Egypt), which each kingdom having a distinctive crown. Around 3100 BC Narmer, the king of Ta Shemu, conquered Ta Mehu, unified Egypt under one government, and combined the two crowns together. To allude to their nation's past division, the Egyptians sometimes called it Ta Meri, meaning "the Two Lands" (other times they called it Kemet, which means "Black Country").

I wasn't in a GIMP mood when drawing this, so I decided to use my long-neglected colored pencils for coloring. I gave the Lower and Upper Egyptian kings different skin tones because I believe that the Egyptians' complexion got darker as one traveled southward down the country.

These are two of my pictures :) I'm new into this and haven't made experiences yet, I also don't know how bad or average they are,
but I like the way they are, so... I'm not really interested in painting persons or nature, because your fantasy is too restricted, even if I like surrealism though...
so yeah, just like I said before, I've never really painted before but in school and just want some honest feedback :)
Image
this seems to be more modern (yes of course I've played a bit with the contrast to make it look more "fruity"^^
Image
And since I've no hoster to upload my pictures but like the two first ones facebook this picture is only the background in a video of a Song of me.
I'm a beginner in music so please just look at the picture and better don't listen to the song for it wasn't meant to be posted in this painting thread anyway.
But the pictures are all meant to belong to a song. I always associate pictures and music, but in fact I begun with that to have something I could make others associate my music. but then somehow I begun to like it.

Thank you! It would make me very happy if somebody of you could give me positive feedback. negative feedback is also welcome though.

@brandon: you do it very well! I see that you try to produce more realistic scenes of humans, fine! :D

i like the design to a reasonable degree. most parts of the picture seem to directly influence the shape of other parts of your composition (and vice verce). considering that you probably had that design in your head before you drew it, i consider it art.

hmmm. you do not want anyone to listen to your music, and you suggest they ignore it (mute it).
if people did that, all they would experience is a silent movie of an unchanging and uninteresting picture.
the music is very good. the picture was not good. the music is very very good. do not be shy about your music. it works.

here is an attempt at calculating a "sensually" appealing picture. if one can see what the picture is portraying, then they can see the substructure in it. if one can not, then one can not.
