Hi! Just wanted to share some sketches. The first is a desert nomad type character inspired by Frank Herbert's Dune and the second is a creature that looks a little too Oddworld-ish.

Dennigan is the white dude on the left and Nobuhle is the black chick on the right. The story I've brewed for them has them come from tribal cultures in conflict with each other, with Dennigan's people being hunter-gatherers and Nobulhe's being farmers and herders.

it is necessary to "host" your pictures on a picture site, and then either link them or embed them to your post.

if you join for example "http://my.imageshack.us", then you can upload images to it for free. when your images are uploaded, you choose the image(s) you want to post, and you obtain the address of the picture through the "information" icon, and you choose "full size", and then you copy that address and paste it into your post.

if your pictures are > 800x600 pixels, they will be squashed without concern to their aspect ratio and they will look skinny.

also, it seems that this site accepts no more than 2 pictures per post or else it results in an error ("could not obtain smiley's data" when you preview it), and can not be posted. that is why i did not post a pictorial guide of how to upload and copy the addresses to this site.
-------------

anyway, i wanted to post another one which i called "function 13b".
this was one of the first ideas i ever explored in this way. it is difficult to explain in words what i mean by this picture. it is like there is an infinitely bound golden well of energy that is squashed into an impossibly restrained stillness, and it expels tendrils of radiating expressions. but it also is a picture about the hungry proboscises of external potential realities that are attracted irresistibly toward the well of golden energy that will empower their existence. it tells me a lot of things about my experience of reality..
it defines in a visual way how the contents of an unexploded (or perpetually potential) "big bang" are like the "ultimate meal" for an empty but hungry universe of possibilities that is starving for the energy from the big bang to enrich it with existence.

whatever, i can not explain it. the picture can (to me at least). consider the picture to be light years deep.

here is another early idea which i can not explain, but i guess i do not need to anyway.
it is an inevitable entanglement of energies given a certain preordained history.

A cattle herder from Neolithic Egypt circa 6500 BC. One of my favorite periods in Egyptian history to study is the prehistoric to predynastic period (i.e. everything before 3100 BC), as you get to appreciate how Egyptian civilization evolved over the millennia. One of the most astounding facts I have uncovered in my research on the topic is that the Egyptians apparently began as semi-nomadic cattle herders similar to modern southern Sudanese groups like the Dinka, Shilluk, and Nuer. They would travel between the Nile Valley and the Saharan savanna annually. Only when the Sahara dried after 4000 BC were they forced into a sedentary existence along the Nile, but even before then they already had a complex society governed by powerful chieftains whose institution would evolve into classical Egyptian kingship.

I feel like writing something about prehistoric Egypt now.

When looking at photographs of forests in Florida (example here), it struck me that they would make the perfect habitat for Tyrannosaurus rex. Not only do they have a humid, subtropical climate similar to Hell Creek, Montana during the Late Cretaceous, but they also have abundant vegetation that is a mixture of conifers and flowering plants, dense enough to feed T. Rex's prey but not so dense that it would impede movement. Thus I was inspired to draw T. Rex in a Florida-style forest. I now fervently believe that whenever people want to make another CGI documentary about T. Rex, they should film it in Florida.

this is one of my best clips, and i have posted it before (a long time ago), and i am going to post it again (now),
you must choose 720 p to watch this. in 360 p it is not good. (you can choose the resolution in the bottom right corner under the word "youtube" (it is only visible after you press play and the video is running). please do not watch it in the default 360p format.
