I’m also a fan of the aforementioned MA albums and like everything they’ve done with the exception of their last one, but Altars.. is still one of my all time favourites. (BATS is very good but it doesn't flow too well and ends up sounding more like a compilation of songs to me).
That being said Death’s “Spiritual Healing” is THE metal album that first got me searching further into the realms of dm when I was 13/14 so Chuck and co. hold a spot in my heart as well.

Hehe their last album, I agree songs don't fit together near the end of BATS gets a bit messy. Ah very cool, I used to listen to them quite a bit when I was younger but not so much now but I do love them just as much. Symbolic was my first Death metal album that I ever heard/got, I'd say Individual Thought Patterns is my favourite of theirs, I love almost everything about that album especially Steve Digiorgio.
