^ I think it's more difficult than it appears to write a catchy song, that's all.
To me, Franz Ferdinand always seemed more 'kiddyish' and manufactured than even Kaiser Chiefs did. I do think Franz are slightly more interesting musically than KC, despite seeming more manufactured. They pretty much nail that funky Gang of Four angular sort of sound, even if they sanitise it a hell of a lot. Musically, KC are quite boring and sort of sound like a less experimental Blur. I saw someone describe Blur as 'Diet Kinks' and I think that's accurate, so KC are like a diet version of a diet version of a great band.
But their drummer definitely knew how to write a catchy song, that's certain. I don't think their lyrics are as bad as people say, either - no worse than Blur's.
Editors are just dull.
I really should hate the whole 'post-punk/New Wave revival' scene because it is bastardising the music I love, but I guess there's not much else being done in terms of rock music that is less obnoxious (I'm not listening to Mumford and Sons.) All the contemporary musicians I like these days make electronica, even though I don't like current 'big thing' in electronic music - dubstep. If you asked me when I was 20 if I would ever start preferring dance music to rock music, I would've been aghast, but here I am saying that I do as regards 21st century music.
Ha, now I'm ranting about music again
