Thanks Titan and Mirror. I began being taught with acrylics. My teacher encouraged me to use oils after a couple of years. I think it took me over three months before I had the necessary confidence with oils. Now I'm back with acrylics, as they are clean and don't smell. The paintings don't look a lot different. I like my brush to be an extension of inner myself. That might sound a bit like Zen, although I know nothing about that.

I called this Miranda, the idea being that men need Miranda Rights, like You have the right to remain silent, the right to a lawyers but anything you do say may be written down and used against you in a court of law, or I will add at a later date. There goes the bias of experience.

Yes she has a swollen jaw. Too much talking probably.

Thank you. :) Tandberg's radios were extremely popular in Norway back in the old days.

Grebels: I really like the portrait. Her features are both very detailed and obscured. Or I am bad at interpreting faces! Either way, I really like the pose, and her hand is very detailed.

This is a newer piece in Pastels. I was really happy with the rose itself, not so much with the stem. But I have only been using pastels for about a week so learning process you know?

Nice work Kurgan. Did you do post production in Photoshop?

Thanks Titan. I love to see pastel work and an amazed at the blends. Coloured pencils seem able to produce fabulous colours.

I really loved the play of orange and Yellow of your piece tho. =) I have been fiddling with blends of similar shades. I am really excited today because I got a set of oil pastels to use versus soft pastels! I wonder how that will turn out in use! Also got a set of wood-less graphite pencils. I will post my most promising experiment when I am finished working with it!

>,< Oil Pastels are a PITA.

Been working on them all afternoon and Finally figured out a more sane way to try to blend without grinding the paper with erasers, sticks, q-tips and my sanity. I used the white oil pastel stick. This is my first piece that came out alright. Blaze.

Not really, a little bit of vegetable oil on a rag or q-tip makes it quite malleable without messing up the paper.

Finally! Triumph! Using a new medium really irked me, especially cause I could not seem to figure out how to get the blending of the colors right with oil-based pastel sticks. If you ever think of trying to use erasers with oil pastels hit yourself in the forehead one good time and move on to another idea. What I found out that DID work well was using, *drum roll* the white pastel oil stick to blend!
