I don't see how Mozart would have been diagnosed with aspergers. Explain.

Beethoven however.

Mozart was extremely obsessive with his music from a very very early age. That could be an indication. He was not the most talkative person neither, he was always busy composing.

Glad someone finally mentioned Mozart. I know it isn't a documented case. But he clearly had some natural talent for music. He composed music when he was five, the tune to Twinkle Twinkle if I'm not mistaken.

Beethoven had a degenerative hearing impairment. I'm sure, but it would have some impact on his interaction with people.

Either way I think everyone can agree that they were both genii. Really, for people to still love them and listen to their music so long after their deaths.

Oh the quoted piece was from about page 19 of the thread...

Indigo Girls with Mara

I'm not necessarily claiming she's an Aspie, but check out Amy Ray's hands from about 9:30 on (and occasionally before then, during some of the times when her hands are showing). Just playing around out of boredom or switching up stims, the way I often do? Other fun things to notice (not necessarily in this particular video): I've seen her appear shy and like she's looking away a lot in video interviews, but she's also been said to have an intense gaze. Back and forth between extremes in eye contact, not getting it quite the same as other people do? Also, she's so focused on the things she's into, such as her political activity. Enough to be "areas of interest"? She's said many times that she's very intense, including with her feelings. She's even told of kicking in a door somewhere over upset about a series of frustrations, such as sound system difficulties. On/off emotions (not cyclical swings, as in bpd)? She also likes to live way out in the mountains and woods, as opposed to Emily Saliers liking to live in the city. Simply a personal preference for how to get down time when not touring or a serious need to really be able to be alone enough? (I know she has a longtime girlfriend. So do I.) And I know relating to outsiders isn't enough, by itself, to make someone an Aspie, especially if somebody's a butch or gender bent/blended lesbian, but it's still something to think about in context here - along with any expressions of being sometimes not quite reconciled with aspects of herself, which is also another common butch, gender bent, gender blended, or trans sense of self. Besides all that, there's something I can't quite put my finger on about the way she moves when she's just talking, as opposed to the way she moves when she's performing. I don't know what that means. In short, Indigo Girls: simply a dichotomy that works well or an Aspie/NT partnership taking advantage of the strengths and advantages of both worlds?

I'm not diagnosing anybody. I'm not qualified, and I'm just a fan of the band, not even an acquaintance. I've never even met either of them. This is all in fun. But that video, with her rocking back and forth a little, twisting her ring, rubbing her hands together... all in contrast with Emily's appearance as she casually sits there...

What does anybody else think?

John Lydon?! Really on what planet does John Lydon strike anyone as having Asperger's?! 8O I'm sorry if I'm being out of line here, but it just reminds me of people who think being rude or an as*hole= Asperger's. Hypothetically if this is the case than Liam Gallagher definitely has it. But but... I really wouldn't think either has it.

Also, I had to comment on this.

I actually really like John Lydon. I think it's great how individual he is. He doesn't seem to care what anyone thinks, and he really seems to mean that too. Yes, he's rude, but I don't think he cares whether he's rude or not. He's also beautiful-looking and has a great sense of humor if you ask me. That being said, I couldn't picture him having Asperger's. He seems too outgoing and talkative and mean to be an aspie. And not awkward enough. He is obsessed with logic and the truth, which I guess you could say is an aspie trait, but a lot of non-aspies are like that too, you know. Yeah...not an aspie.

Don't get me wrong, I too like him minus him having a disagreeable personality at times.

PS - you know who I am, right? ;)

So, anybody ever have the thought that Neil Peart, drummer for Rush, might be an Aspie?

Craig Nicholls (The Vines) and Adam Young aka Owl City.

People who I suspect have A.S.
- Bjork - She attacked that reporter that time, almost in a form of an A.S. meltdown.
- Beth Gibbons - Singer of Portishead; always appears shy and awkward, says very little on stage, melancholic lyrics and doesn't give interviews.
Kate Bush - Very much the same as Beth Gibbons, doesn't do interviews (but I don't think she is).

Famous people do that a lot.

Great topic!

Elvis Costello. Please tell me yes, I'm not crazy!

All right, here's the real musician I wanted to post about:

Donnie Vie of Enuff Z Nuff.

It makes me tremble to type his name, he's so talented.

She has a few other quirks, plus I'm not quite sure how often that stuff really happens.

Do you mean you're not sure how often she has meltdowns, or how often do famous people have meltdowns?
