Hey -
Giving away age and ignorance here, but there are arrangements and original compositions of mine that I would like to share for feedback, but am unsure how to "host" the files in order to effectively do so. Moreso, I am concerned about various companies attempt to wrest ownership from the artist, such as MySpace's provisions giving them freedom to use your works. Can anyone provide me with a safe method for me to put files (mp3/midi/scorch) on the 'net so I can see if I have been effective in translating my ideas into musical cohesion.

While I can't say I've had personal experience with the problem I'd just say keep the source file, especially in 24 bit wav format and only share 192 and lower mp3s. If someone wants to argue over who made the tune - share the file with them, unaltered, showing its last save date as long before whenever they think they came up with it. When they're trying to wave a shabby mp3 in your face and you have the original - you've got em, which means something if they've actually made a lot of money off your stuff, other than that - unless they're hijacking your tunes for car commercials I wouldn't worry.
I know there's also something known as 'publishing', ie. its a process that a file goes through in terms of finalizing, I've been careful to only give out coarse grain rather than the finished bread.
