Moss Creations Facebook Page

Some years ago, my ex-wife tried to get me into the greeting card business... I never thought I was all that good and I'm embarassed to show off my cartoony stuff. I haven't drawn since the separation... hope my pens still work. Maybe I should get back into that as well as my composing...

Hope this works... EDIT: Gah! I wanna' take 'em down - those examples are terrible but it's all I have online. Just because I could draw a little doesn't make me a candidate for the greeting card industry my ex-wife tried to push me into.

Pack Lizard

Native to the jungles and tall-grass savannas of Heboni, these man-sized predatory reptiles earn their name for hunting in matriarchal packs. Their intelligence and social complexity rivals that of certain monkeys, allowing them to cooperatively bring down prey much larger than themselves or even raid human settlements. Female pack lizards can be distinguished from males by having larger and more brightly colored head crests along with bigger bodies.

***

Although the tentatively named "pack lizards" are obviously their world's equivalent to Velociraptors, I wanted my design to look somewhat visually distinct from both feathery, paleontologically accurate raptors and 90's-style Hollywood raptors. Ultimately I drew upon both old Charles Knight paintings and modern-day iguanas.

I thought I'd share something I painted a couple of weeks ago:

Decided to give my pack lizards a blue Avatar-style color scheme.

This is the insignia of the Imperial Defense Force (IDF) from my book. It's a saber crossed with an olive branch, under the Earth Moon System, on a shield.

Made a few new pieces early this morning before I went to bed. I scanned and posted my favorite three on devianart. Here they are in order of favorites:

This one is called Skin Deep. Like I said in devianart, hands are very important to me, they are my best tools for interacting with the world.

My first tree in full bloom. I love how the foliage effect turned out.

It has been a while since I drew a rose and I love doing such.

I have not worked purely with sketching mediums in a while so I sat down to fiddle around. This is the piece I got made. It is a combination of graphite and charcoal.

^ I really like the detailed branches on the tree in the last post!

Image
Queen Khanyisile

I created this character intending to use her as a love interest for one of my stories' protagonists, but since the story's in development hell, I don't know what to do with her now. I imagine Khanyisile to be a classier and less martially inclined woman than most of the African warrior woman characters I've designed over the years, but since I gravitate towards more action-packed stories, I don't know if she would be interesting as a protagonist in her own right.

Image
Ranjitha the Lemurian

Here's a black female character who does not have an African inspiration for once. Instead her visual design drew upon South Asian and aboriginal Australasian cultures, and her name "Ranjitha" comes from Tamil (a Dravidian language spoken in southern India). I picture her native civilization, Lemuria, as having Dravidian-style architecture, but their music sounds more Australian with its droning didgeridoos.
