i think Belle and Sebastian could be appealing to those with AS- their songs are very much about awkwardness and outsider-just in a twee way.
i love them they're my fave band :)

I would have to say none of them would be appealing for me but that's only me and I don't know about any other Aspie.

Here's my fav top ten (not in any particular order)
I go to my "zone" listening to them. They are quite, ahem... stim-a-licious

1. Pink Floyd
2. Rush
3. Jethro Tull
4. Queen
5. Yes
6. Jimi Hendrix
7. Talking Heads
8. Peter Gabriel
9. Switchfoot
10. Led Zeppelin

I love music (classical and jazz, too) but these are the ones I seem to play over and over again.

I know what you mean about Yes and the other prog rock bands there. :) Something about prog rock just seems to suit my mind so well, just listening to it is enough of a stim when I feel stressed. Particularly Yes, I can just lose myself in the different passages of their music. :) There seem to be certain aspects of music that just appeal to my Aspie-ness, I can't quite describe it but it's something to do with the sound of the songs. "Spirit of the Radio" by Rush, "Special Needs" by Placebo, "Precious" by Depeche Mode and "And You And I" by Yes all have this sound in common to me, I'm still not sure what it is about them but if you listen to them you might see what I mean. :)

Tough choice. Loved The Cure as a teenager. Listen to the Smiths. Like New Order. Ditto the Heads, but they're more arty and quirky than AS-y.

Radiohead, past their prime they may be, has probably the "soundtrack" to any sort of paranoidal outsider music with OK Computer and Kid A.

I can't vouch for anything beyond If You're Feeling Sinister, but that's one heck of an album. There's some amazing songs on there -- and not one single dud -- tho they do have to grow on you a bit.

I can understand how people dislike Kid A or anything after that, but OK Computer? Key-ripes. Them's are fighting words. ;-)
