Well there are lots of vocalists I like...but for now I guess I would say Jim Morrison and Syd Barret. But I listen to so many bands i could probably list many more.

Perry Como for a traditional music kind of vocalist.

Mari Iijima for female vocalist, then for Japanese pop vocalist, tie between Kyosuke Himuro or Takashi Utsunomiya from TM Network. Then for like, nonJapanese speaking English singing female singer, probably Nadia Ali.

Brandon Boyd(Incubus)
Paul Meany(Mutemath)
Alex Band(The Calling)
Adele
Fiona Apple
Jem
S.J. Tucker(folk/filk singer from Seattle)
P.J. Harvey
Bjork
Ani DiFranco
Billie Holiday
Origa(especially when collaborating with composers such as Yoko Kanno for anime soundtracks)
Scott Matthews
Amy Winehouse
It's hard to decide who my favorites are without creating an excessively long list of all the singers I remember hearing whose voices I like, but those are the singers who come to mind most easily that I think are very talented and enjoyable to listen to.

Captain Beefheart.

Since you posed your question in the singular tense, I'll leave the others unmentioned.

One of my favorites is Davey Havok. I now realize he might be an aspie, which is probably why I fell in love with him! What do you guys think, does he seem like an aspie?

i do not identify with singing music because i can not sing, and so i can not really judge other peoples efforts, but i like thelma houston because she has huge command over her voice.
here is something i am going to try to play again because i like listening to her voice. it may be better to not look at the video and just concentrate on the music.

i met linda rondstadt, and she was fearless and brave and sang loud and pure. she was a better talent than thelma houston in my mind although they both were stunning

rondstadt was much older than me, but i got on very well with her. i was transfixed by the quality of her voice.

she was brilliant.
